Saturn Retrograde in Pisces: The Return to the Mother of Form

When Saturn alters his behavior the whole sky bends. The planet stepped into the first degree of Aries, the place of his fall, and today turned back into Pisces at the anaretic degree. This is a gesture heavy with meaning. Aries is fire cardinal, a sign of beginnings where Saturn cannot hold his quality. His cold and dry nature is out of place in the heat of Mars.

Retreating into Pisces shows that the cycle of thirty years cannot yet be renewed. The unfinished burden of the twelfth house must be carried first. The ancients knew the twelfth as the house of the kakos daimon, the evil spirit who presses upon solitude, exile and undoing. Saturn has affinity with that house, as his chains belong there. The sign of Pisces, mutable water, is ruled by Jupiter. And so the lord of time now moves within the sea of dissolution. This movement calls for discernment, since the soul is asked to walk between confinement and vision.

Saturn Direct in Pisces: An Analysis

Saturn concludes its retrograde motion in Pisces today, which began on July 13, 2025. Despite having entered Aries in June, the Lord of Time turned back to revisit his Saturnian bound (from 30° to 28° Pisces) and a portion of the previous Martial bound (28° to 25°), that is, the harshest and most malefic degrees at the end of the zodiac. The entire movement took place under the rulership of Jupiter in Cancer, itself now retrograde, creating a trine connection between Cardinal and Mutable Water, a current of liquefaction and reabsorption of boundaries.

The melancholic Saturn in Pisces is peregrine, without essential dignities, and entirely subjected to the Jupiterian temperament. Saturn, cold and dry in humour, accustomed to the fixed or cardinal structures of Earth and Air, has spent the past years adrift in the mutable waters of Pisces, and is now completing his full 29-year cycle around the zodiacal wheel. The retrograde ends at 25° Pisces, the moment when it resumes direct motion to cross the final five degrees before re-entering Aries, the sign of his fall, on February 14, 2026.

That ingress will mark the beginning of two and a half years under the rulership of Mars, the nocturnal malefic, hot and dry by nature, in clear dissonance with the diurnal malefic Saturn. The tension between them heralds a period of global friction, structuring the conflict between form and impulse. This will resonate strongly on Pluto in Aquarius, whose collective and technological expressions will be shaped by a rather unstable Saturn.

Tarot Liturgy: Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

The moment of a total lunar eclipse always cuts deep into the fabric of the cosmos. The Moon, the reflective luminary of Gabriel, who governs the tides of memory and image, is pushed into the mouth of shadow. Yesod, which receives and filters the current of Light descending from Kether through Tifereth, suddenly falls into darkness. The lunar vessel is swallowed by the umbra and offered to the dragon’s mouth.

The eclipse occurred at fifteen degrees of Pisces, within the bound of Jupiter, in the very sign of mutable water. Pisces is tied to the twelfth house, the domicile of the Bad Spirit, the Cacodaimon, where vision falters, the unconscious grow denser and the veil of incarnate life becomes thin. The ruler of this eclipse was therefore Jupiter, who at that same hour was in Cancer, cardinal water, in the subterranean root, the Imum Coeli.

A mutual Moon-Jupiter regency was drawn in heaven, right as she sank beneath the draconian shadow. Saturn had also just moved retrograde into Pisces, sealing the event with the mark of his slow and weighty presence in the same mutable waters. To this was added a separating square of one degree between Jupiter and Mars in Libra, hence creating a sharp angular discord between expansion and contest.

This reading took place after eclipse, with the Moon in Aries, under myrrh incense, Psalms 120 and 121 read aloud beforehand.

Venus Opposed to Saturn: An Analysis

Venus at 26° Virgo is still in her zodiacal fall. The goddess of pleasure, desire, and aesthetic relationality is currently forced to descend into a terrain of analysis, modesty, and correction. As if Aphrodite had to wash her feet before being adored or serve tea with hands wounded by labour. There is a vestal sort of eroticism in Virgo, but without the luxury of Libra or the possession of Taurus.

In the mutable earth of Virgo, ruled by Mercury – now already plunged into the dark salt of Scorpio – Venus finds herself filtered through an underground intellect. The decan is Mercurial and the bound is Martial, a delicate flower blooming in a battlefield.

Venus is hence currently operating within a circular chain of rulership, almost closed in upon itself, between the two planets associated with occult intellect (Mercury) and warlike desire (Mars) both in Scorpio. This is a time when fondness can only express itself through alchemy.
