ALBUMS OF THE WEEK: Here are the nine albums that got the most plays from me this week. The clear winner this time was Akhlys - Melinoë (2020). This is dark, atmospheric black metal from today’s metal Mecca: Colorado. Melinoë is simply superb, and if I hadn’t already made my Top 25 for the year it would unquestionably be included and ranked very high. Also noteworthy: Deus Mortem just released a new EP called “The Fiery Blood,” which is excellent and delivers high quality Polish black metal (you’ll like this if you’re into Mgła). Ossuarium, Véhémence and Khemmis stay on the list with some great albums. I picked up some new Wormwitch and Type O Negative records this week, so they ranked as well. From the Navajo Nation in Arizona, this is Mutilated Tyrant - Ho'dichiih Dóó' Sáji'. This EP provides a powerful dose of second wave-style black metal that sounds like it could have been crafted in Norway in 1993. Raw, angry, bleak, with cool atmosphere. Today is #indigenouspeoplesday in the US. To mark the occasion, I want to spotlight a cool EP that was recently shared with me. Mutilated Tyrant is a Native American black metal band from the Navajo Nation. Their 2020 EP is called: Ho'dichiih Dóó’ Sáji’. It’s really awesome, and has a 90s Norwegian BM vibe. I just got a sweet Mutilated Tyrant patch and some decals in the mail today, so I had to bust out my Ho'dichiih Dóó’ Sáji’ CD. This is bleak, angry black metal from the rez. I could really go for a full length, guys!

ALBUMS OF THE WEEK. Here are the nine albums that got the most plays from me this week. The clear winner this time was Spirit Adrift’s new 2020 release: Enlightened in Eternity. I can’t say enough good about this one, and I expect it to rank highly on the “Best of 2020” lists in December. This week marked the first AOTW appearances by Mutilated Tyrant, Akhlys, and Hellripper - all of which are new discoveries for me and highly enjoyable. Sargeist, Death, All Hell, Bewitcher, and Panzerfaust filled out the rest and gave me much needed comfort during these times of uncertainty and woe. 1.
