“...but why?” Marisol raises an eyebrow before leaning over the back of the sofa to look at their cat. (Their cat, and there’s a little thrill at the idea of there being their anything)

“I was watching something about lions for work,” Marisol vaguely remembers Maeve saying something about a zoological paper that needed translating, and smiles in understanding, “and she got scared.”

“There, there, baby.” Marisol reaches down and the cat acquiesces to her touch, allowing herself to be lifted onto her lap...just as the leader of the pride roars menacingly at a lone hyena, making her yowl and scramble out of her hold to run into the kitchen instead.

“You could hold me, instead.” Maeve prompts, glasses slipping just a touch, and Marisol smiles, opening the circle of her arms and oh, so much else.

Lexi is awesome! I’ve snorted out loud at some of her dialogue before. I love the relationship between Lexi and Lucas and I love your Bobby too! As someone who definitely isn’t the biggest fan of Bobby, it’s definitely impressive that your Bobby strikes a chord with me. WOYL is my Wednesday comfort fic, I remember countless weeks last term in which I’d be excited for Wednesdays despite having to get up at 8am and be very sleep deprived and grumpy, so WOYL was a definite highlight of my day. I love so much about WOYL, that it’s hard to narrow stuff down. I also do relate to Lexi in parts, she appears so real x

Maeve finds Marisol on the roof terrace, silhouetted against the moon, and her heart stops for a moment at the sight before she moves closer.

“Come to bed, Marisol.”

“I—” Marisol pauses a moment and the silence hangs in the air like a noose. “I just—I can’t right now, I’m sorry.”

“Whenever you’re ready, I’m here.” Maeve’s tone is simple, honest as ever, and as she turns to leave she just about hears Marisol’s sharp intake of breath.

“Just—holding everything in doesn’t help, you know.” Maeve isn’t sure that Marisol can hear her, but she resolves to wait downstairs anyway. Marisol will come when she needs to. She always does.
