I might have something for you," She pointed her finger before tucking her hand inside a picnic basket. She offered a cupcake, a napkin neatly placed beneath it. "How about this?"
⸺ ... Great, he thought he was alone. It was one of those... off days for him; one of those rare days where everything felt like it was crushing in. It felt hard to breathe, hard to think and emotions tore at the seams. A whirlwind of a tornado clouded his mind of emotions he left buried deep in his heart.
He tried to quickly wipe at his eyes and face, hoping the stranger hadn't seen him cry; a weak emotion he prevents at any cost. He didn't have it in him for his typical behavior, just sounding defeated in the end.
"...I think you got the wrong guy, sorry."
His ears perked at the shuffling of a picnic basket just at the edge of his peripheral vision and he noticed and smelled the sweet scent of the cupcake. It's been.. a while since he's had anything sweet. Or even someone older offering him a hand. He looked small compared to her, but her unfounded kindness stirred something inside his core where a war waged.
