So I got Halo Flashpoint last week, and have been diligently painting everything, and finally got to Master Chief. I wanted to save him for last because I wanted to make him special and have some OSL from the Energy Sword. Anyways, it was a blast painting each of these models, cant wait for the Mk Vb's in March!

I'd been neglecting my hobby stuff over lockdown to focus on uni work etc but now that I'm looking at it again I'm realising that basically the only thing I've painted in the last year is wizards

I dont even properly have any armies that can use these wizards

The Malcador is a venerable tank design, thought by many to predate the Leman Russ Battle Tank, but it is not widely in use by Imperial Forces. Very few forge worlds continue to provide new Malcador hulls or replacement parts (though there are exceptions to this), and the exact origin and provenance of the Malcador's basic design is a matter of some confusion and mystery even within the Adeptus Mechanicus.

The Malcador's main powerplant, a perfectly serviceable thermic combustor design (more commonly used in agricultural and industrial machinery) is unfortunately somewhat underpowered in relation to the tank's size and mass. This reduces its overall performance and imbues the tank with its characteristically poor fuel efficiency. This problem in particular has persistently plagued the Malcador and its variants, and perhaps more than any other factor has relegated what is otherwise a well-armed and durable war machine to secondary status.

Although the tank is extremely cramped (fitting a large crew of 9 into a tightly packed and sweltering hull) and as prone to engine difficulties as other variants, its battlefield role means it seldom operates far from support or resupply, which has a tendency to mitigate the design's failings, while its considerable firepower and heavy protection make it a powerful asset both in attack and defense.

During the Alynthian Civil War, the Malcador saw extensive service with renegade forces. Malcadors were used by the renegades both to anchor their defensive lines and to spearhead brutal, and often suicidal, counter-attacks into the Imperial lines. In particular, the Malcador defender was a particularly valued weapon against Imperial regiments, who utilized mass-infantry attack as a chosen strategy. The Defender's multiple heavy bolters could be used to wreak havoc on the attack waves, particularly if they could counter attack into the body of the enemy assault, lashing all around with raking fire. As the war continued on, the grip of corruption on the renegades became increasingly evident, as Malcadors and other war machines became adorned with the malign iconography and symbols of the Ruinous Powers, eventually mixing their debased machine code script with macabre decorations of death and sacrifice known to many followers of the Dark Gods.

The typical Renegade Malcador Defender's crew during the Alynthian Civil War consisted of one primary casemate gunner, four secondary casemate gunners, two sponson gunners, one demolisher gunner/technician, a driver, and a tank commander. Each weapon is also serviced by an autoloader.

Even more painting done, this time the Tau half of the Chanlath box. God, I forgot how much I love painting, I've been so busy with the comic I've ignored my other hobbies.

Finished Shadowsun, and tried to make her as close to the boxart as I could. She was fun to paint and looks ENORMOUS compared to her old, janky model.

Personally, I like the helmetted head more, but her red hair is fun too....that reminds me, I gotta paint all my ither female Tau with red hair, them being clones of Shadowsun after all!

Finished a buge. It was fun, although, I'm almost out of my old bloodletter glaze, which is integral to how I paint Nid wings. Hope I don't gotta paint many more.

So I recently rescued some old Metal XV15 stealthsuits from ebay because I love the aesthetic of the old models, and I decided to use one that was missing an antenna (I 3d printed a replacement) and repaint my old color scheme using newer techniques I've learned over the years from back when I first got into 40k. 18 years in the making, and I think I MAY have improved a little.
