euripides' electra / supernatural season 4 episode 1: lazarus rising
She was so cute
And she was so kind
And she was so mine
And everything seemed fine
And then she wanted to have sex alone with some other guy.
I was her first.
Apparently she needed to go through her 'slut' phase, not my words, I would never call her that.
And what followed was a breakup that lasted (going-through-it) 8 months.
We decided to take a break so she could live her life without regret. I wanted what was best for her and didn't respect my own boundaries for her sake.
But we would talk every few weeks
And she would tell me how much she misses me
And how it's just sex
How much she loves me and wants to be with me, specifically.
She eventually decided she was "done" with that stage and that we could date again.
She would text him in front of me and he would call her pet names like kitten and they'd exchange I love yous, which she would say didn't mean anything.
By the end of it, a combination of being strung along for months and insecurity about her and this guy that she claimed she wasn't even interested in as a bf drove me to the edge, where everything ended. I'm only even alive because someone who shouldn't have listened when I said I was going to kill myself.
A terrible time for it to be the middle of 2020.
all my posts are out of context
I watched The Fifth Element this morning, at around 8am. With my insomnia I decided to give up the idea of sleep that night and waited till the light was turning blue and put the film on. You can hear the motorway getting busier around 8am, the cars are louder.
Each attempt at watching this film dies quickly but I decided to sit through it and found it actually very enjoyable. Sci-fi is a medium I’m trying to get into, and I am surprisingly warming up to it. It stems from childhood favorites like Alien and The Martix- there’s a vein of cyberpunk that sits in my blood when i think about 11 year old kiki lying on her bedroom floor, bathed in red from the plastic heart ikea lamp on her wall, watching samurai jack and thinking about his new dystopian, urban future. And growing up in such an urban area, these landscapes affect you.
Arguing with my flatmates boyfriend over Alien enforced the idea that sci-if is hard to get into, when he scoffs at my arguments that the films aren’t that bad, and that there’s definitely room for a feminist analysis on Alien and the idea of biology. When he brushes over any attempt to argue that women are vital in it. How do you argue with a boy who is constantly told he is intelligent, who prides himself on this untouchable nerd persona, and invalidates your argument on the basis that you wouldn't know because you're not a fan?
I am interested in sci-fi, but it’s something I’m going to have to explore on my own, without the help of those already fully immersed in the genre. So the fifth element was on my to watch list and Im glad i did. It’s surprisingly very queer.
Will it go in my art? I’m definitely interested in the aesthetic of sci-fi/cyberpunk. The aesthetic of the fifth element with it’s high fashion and deeply saturated colours are inspiration indeed, it seems so different from the gloomy blues of Blade Runner, but works well on par with Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Jack.
Pretty oranges everywhere n bleached eyebrows all round.
