Best part of my D&D groups: When I finally get to remind everyone that my character has Trauma and the DM goes 'nooooo I made him saaaaad' because my little kobold cleric panicked when someone saw him as possibly threatening (he was raised as an orphan in a village that used to get invaded by kobolds regularly and spent his entire life constantly having to prove he was worthy of life by being able to heal and now any sign that someone might dislike him is met by instant panic and retreat to a safe place or person or to try and heal them).
Which is not at all like my rogue who was a heavy drinker and enjoyer of casual sex (sixteen years old in an invaded country who witnessed his mother get shot for breaking curfew and bleed out in front of his eyes and now joined the revolution but his only coping skills are from watching people work in bars and doesn't trust anyone enough to talk to them).
My druid came with no trauma because he was the one who hated other goblins and basically just decided to leave them all behind to make pickles. He caused more trauma than he had (literally told a mother of a missing two year old that he probably ran away because she was a bad mother) than he ever experienced.
