Omg yes...my precious Group 4 kids!! I LOVE thinking about this dynamic!
I donāt know much about video games (feel free to judge me lol) but they definitely bond over
Their group hits the arcade sometime during their trip to Kyoto, and by this point, all of them know she loves video games
They donāt know about her 2nd year thing, but she decides its time to own up and admit that part of herself
Karma is, of course, interested and challenges her to a game
Kanzaki accepts coolly, and after ten minutes of playing, sheās destroyed himā¦five times in a row.
Karma is shocked, and that itself surprises everyone. After that, he goes a bit feral and challenges her to another game, then another, and so on. He loses every single one. Kanzaki is just trying not to laugh her ass off, while the others failed at that.
By the end, Karma regains his chill, and verbally shows his respect for her and her gaming skills.
Gaming together is a pastime for both of them now, and theyāve clicked as friends outside of it.
Kanzaki honestly appreciates Karmaās rebellious nature, and how heās not tied to anyoneās expectations. Also, he doesnāt treat her like 95% of the guys sheās met, not as a proper girl to crush on. But as a friend he respects and treats as an equal, no different than anyone else.
Karma in turn is very interested in seeing her rebellious side come out, with her parents and society in general. Kanzaki lets loose around Group 4 only, and heās ecstatic when sheās not as prim and polite as she lets on to others, like swearing when she slips up in a level, rolling her eyes at guys catcalling her and Kayano, etc
So yeah, Kanzaki finds she can herself around him more...
Sheās definitely not as nice to him as she may be to others. Nope, when Karma screws up, she makes her disappointment clear as water. And it unnerves the hell out of him. Sheās one of the few people he will genuinely apologize to without being asked to.
Once they get closer, I can see Karma getting more attached and protective almost (well, heās protective of all of group 4). He gets a blast from scaring the shit out of gross guys who catcall her or try to harass her. If heās feeling particularly vindictive, he will get revenge on them in the form of a beating combined with wasabi.Ā
Whenever he looks out for her, Kanzaki smiles and hugs him likeĀ āAw, thank you Karma-kun.ā He blushes a bit and is like,Ā āItās whatever.ā Kayano and Okuda coo in the background and call him an overprotective sibling.
They can understand each other really well since he lives in an empty home, and she might as well. They team up and plot pranks against both their respective parents at some point, and itās like well-needed self-care for them.Ā
Last one: they absolutely play games together in class. Whether against each other during lessons, and theyāre sitting apart and shooting each other dirty glances...or during lunch, where instead of eating, theyāre just gaming. They can get so lost in it, that Hara takes both their consoles away until after they finish their meals.
