Book Review: Indigo’s Star
Author: Hilary McKay
Genre: Children’s
Dates read 24th-26th December
I loved this book, and Saffy’s Angel (the first book about the Casson family). Indigo leapt out at me in the first book as one of my favorite characters and I couldn’t wait to read a book that focuses on him. The whole Casson family come across as slightly fantastical while also staying very true to life. Each member has their distinct personality, though McKay does have a tendency to write all dialogue in the same fairly proper English, so differentiating between character’s speech can be hard.
The story in Indigo’s Star is wonderfully paced apart from the last few chapters where things start happening very quickly as we reach the ending. The plot itself is like the Casson family, slightly fantastical while staying beautifully true to life in respects to bullying and friendships.
I give it 8/10!
