⚠️ SPOILERS FOR THE FRAGGLE ROCK SPECIAL ⚠️

I will mostly be talking about the celebrity cameo and giving my thoughts about it. I liked the special but the cameo bugged me and I wanted to talk about it.

I have such a huge problem with Lele Pons being a celebrity cameo in Fraggle Rock.

I won't be talking about her many, MANY controversies. You can just look it up, it's the first thing that comes up.

However, I will be talking about the episode and how the celebrity cameo completely changes the story.

The song performed in the special is called "Our Melody" and it comes from the episode "The Minstrels" from the original 1983 show. The episode is about Fraggles finding their songs to sing in their Fraggle Medley. Red struggles with finding her song and tries to get it the cheap way. She later on realizes that she can't and finds her song.

A similar thing is happening with Gobo in the special. He is struggling to write his song for the Fraggles' seasonal activities.

Just like Red, he figures out the song somewhat himself (and with the help of someone with the role of mentor) and sings the song.

However, my problem with this special is that by bringing a celebrity into the mix, it just sounds corporate. Instead of it being almost magical like in the episode "The Minstrels", it instead sounds like

"Oh, wow!! Thank you celebrity! You really helped me out so let's sing your version of the song that will be HEAVILY marketed and pretend that it's magic!!

See what I mean?

Lastly, the reggaeton version of "Our Melody" (in my opinion) is so bad and doesn't at all fit the theme, that it's almost disrespectful to the original song.

I recommend listening to the Reprise of the song in the special because it actually sounds good and respects the original songs ideas while still having it's own spin on it.

My final thoughts:

The special is really good, but would've been better without Lele Pons.
