I'm alive! Been a rough summer for me with both the combo of Heat and Humidity on top of my mac going down for a couple of months where I gradually replaced all but two components to figure the problem. Turned out to be the harddrive that went kaput T_T
Thankfully I was able to recover my art files, including this big piece featuring mechanicals I've never done before - a GAU8 with a modified holding harness and casing borrowing from weed whackers, lawnmowers, and ammo sleeves, and an MG-32 grenade launcher.
This was done for a commissioner on DA for her anniversary gift with her partner, who wanted a piece of their characters having fun at a firing range. The overall design was borrowed from studying several outdoor setups, and awning styles to create the look that best suited a gun with as much heat and smoke such as the GAU produces. And of course, always practice safety first with appropriate head and ear gear!
Originally the GAU-8 was going to have all the mechanisms showing off as a nod to my tendency for details, but then I realized: fast moving parts + fur/hair = BAD DAY, so I had to draft a more civilian style cover for this beast of a BRRT machine since it's not attached to its usual wing-armor, the A-10 Warthog.
