Ironman Italy 2018. My meaning of being an Ironman: One year ago when i started sharing my idea of doing an IRONMAN, a lot of people reacted by telling me I was crazy. In the beginning they must have thought: nice idea but let’s see in a few months. Others were trying to convince me of the fact that it was really bad for your body and health specially after been told from doctors that I should quit on endurance sport because of my lower back. As a Capricorn (known to be stubborn) I've decided to carry on and prove mainly to myself that I could do it, it would have been hard but I could get there. Offcourse there were days of selfdoubt and extreme exhaustion on which the journey seemed infeasable. But at same time I knew there was no way I was quitting. That never was an option. I was determined that every workout would bring me closer to realizing my goal. But the ‘why’ behind this experience, is what pushed me forward. Willing to undergo and face all obstacles along the way. Ironman is not only winning a medal or finishing a race in a fast time but it's also a mental game where throughout the race you keep challenging yourself asking, why am I doing this? I feel tired, let's quit. I've learned throughout this race that anything is possible if we do really want to make it happen. This adventure was possible for me also thanks to my friends that were supporting me and make me go forward on hard days but a special thanks goes to @runner2403 the best coach and friend I could possibly get in this adventure and to my wife @ania9179 for all the patience, support and sacrifices made during this year. NEVER GIVE UP It seems just a saying but it's the simple truth, in sports as it is in life. #iamanironman #ironmanitaly2018 #triathlete #Triathlon #myfirstironman #nevergiveup #anythingispossible #love #friendship https://www.instagram.com/p/BoOiZEplbg9/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1w12ogv7vdags
