A "Ascendance of a Bookworm" Review
Ascendance of a bookworm is kinda unusual but that is what makes this anime so great. In one sentence explained it’s, A absolute Bookworm dies in a Library and wakes up in another world making almost everything possible with her knowledge and pure Creativity.
Plot: The story revolves around the little Myne, who had the name Urano Motosu in her former Life but died tragically from a falling bookshelf. She herself is an extreme bookworm and her only wish, while she passed away, was to read a lot of books in her next life. To her concern was her new family not really rich or modern because the world she is now in is more like the middle ages. Means, there are now books near her that she could read in any way but if there is a will there is a way and so she tries everything she can to find a way to make "books" herself, or at least something that serves the same purpose. May it be some clay tablets, or a wooden scroll, as long as she can fit some letters on it, it's ok. Means she obviously finds a way to make actual paper and meets a salesman who quickly realizes what a great Potential Myne and her ideas are hiding.
While other Isekai animes try to satisfy you with so much "very best like no-one ever was" potential that it's sometimes really bad made and annoying, is this anime a bit different. Myne never really gets into fights or has to prove how strong she is but manages to be pretty incredible and unique by jus using her creativity and her sheer knowledge and willpower to get what she desires. You even know that there are Magic and Magic abilities in the World but till the end of the first arc you never really see any of that, what's makes the whole existence of it even more special.
The characters are pretty interesting and not those all-time, dumb goody-two-shoes that believe everything the main-character says, especially after they see what she is capable of doing even if she is just a little girl and has the fragility of a ceramic doll. that makes the overall interactions a lot more interesting as in other Isekais where literally everything is just excepted or completely overreacted.
The world itself is not the most extreme interesting but the whole social system and politics are, which are a few of those things that shape the story and the shown events most of the time.
I really can't say a whole lot more but I would suggest to you that you just give it a shot if you like the genres, Isekai, middle ages, fantasy.
9/10 for giving a nowadays overused genre a new take in a new direction.
Hope you like it DR4POS
