CHAPTER 1
3rd POV
"Another round please!", Wakaba yelled as he joined glasses with Cana.
"Coming right up", Y/N said as she signalled Mira that she's already on it.
The guild was abuzz with the usuall chatter, celebration and the occasional fight. At least until everyone seemed to be hit by a wave of drowsiness and soon Master Makarov remained the only one awake.
"Welcome back, Mystogan", the older man greeted nonchalantly.
Mystogan gave a small nod. "I'm sorry Master."
This caught the guild master's attention.
"Although I was able to destroy the dark guild, it appears they are part of a network. Some of the guilds part of it do not even have any human members."
Makarov gave it some though before inviting the masked mage into his office for a full report.
Not long after the two men had left, the rest of the guild woke. Although slighlty puzzled, they have already grown accustomed to the S-Class mage's sleeping spell.
While some members grumpled about their spilled drinks, Y/N was already known for her positive lease on life.
"Man, I wish Mystogan was around with this spell of his whenever I can't fall asleep", she laughed as she cleaned the tables and re-filled any spilled drinks.
The others only signed in adoration. Y/N was known for her sweetness and patience, but also for her sense of humour and sass when needed.
"You're too nice Y/N-chan! We ought'a give this guy a good talking to!", Macao yelled and Romeo instantly retorted, "Brave words considering you've never faced the man awake", to which the guild burst out in laughter.
"Y/N!", Makarov yelled and it took meant girl a moment to make out where he was.
Finally spotting the master on top of the railing she saw him signalling for her to follow. After Y/N closed the office door behind her she was surprised to see Mystogan standing near the window. Not that she was afraid of the mage, if anything she was more curious. But she has never seen him in such close proximity. She would usually see his back in the distance as he left after taking a job offer from the board.
Noticing that she was staring and not wanting to be rude, she held out her hand with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, Mystogan! I'm Y/N."
Slightly hesitant, the blue-haired mage took her hand and was happy the mask on his face covered the slight blush creeping up his cheeks. He only gave a slight nod, to which the Master sighed and mumbled something along the lines of "No manners in front of a pretty girl".
Y/N took the seat offered to her and Makarov began to explain the content and result of Mystogans last mission.
Y/N's POV
"So if I understand this right, then Mystogan was able to destroy the dark guild Wild Hunt but found out they belonged to a network of dark guilds?".
The Master and Mystogan nodded at me and I continued, "As interesting, although dreadful, this is I'm not sure why you are telling me this", I spoke honestly.
Master Makarov looked uneasy which did not bode well with me. He cleared his throat, "You see, the network is called Specters. And it seems that befitting of their name, there are guilds solely consisting of various types of monsters."
I simply stared at Makarov. Although I had a felling as to what this is about and noticed the Master's uneasyness, I had to hear it from himself. Master looked between me and Mystogan.
"Not knowing how many monsters will be awaiting our attach, I want you to accompany Mystogan on this job".
That I had a bad feeling about this was an understatement, but I also knew that Makarov would not ask me if it wasn't important.
"Alright", I responded and saw Master relax immediately. At the sight I let out a chuckle, "Don't be like that, you knew I couldn't say no to you Master." Makarov grinned and after thinking for a moment he proposed, "You kids could be gone for a few weeks, so I would say we tell the guild that you'll accompany Mystogan because your healing abilities are required."
It made the most sense so I could only nod in agreement until I head Mystogan clear his throat. Oh damn. I had completely forgotten that he was still here.
"I don't mean to be impolite, but for what will Y/N-san be needed on this mission?", he looked at me and his gaze softened, "I don't mean to say you are unneeded but as you may know I usually work alone."
I gave him a smile, "I figured. But I believe Master put though into this decision. As for my abilities, it's such a boorish story so I'll leave it to gramps to tell it." Getting up, I opened the door and left after telling Mystogan my address.
For a moment there, I almost felt sad but it was short-lived as I was soon engulfed in the energetic atmosphere of the guild hall.
Mystogan's POV
Master Makarov motioned for me to take a seat this time. Seeing that he was trying to find the right words I waited patiently. To say I was not curious would be a lie. During her stay in the office I could not detect anything that would give away the type of magic Y/N used. It also did not help that I could however see why the other guild members adored the girl. Her bright E/C eyes that looked directly into mine with a warmth that was unfarmiliar to me. The way her H/L, H/C hair framed her face perfectly. Her F/C dress hugged her figure just right and was adorned by the cute apron she seemed to wear when she worked at the bar.
Makarov seemed to have gathered his thoughts and began to speak. "Other than most of us, our Y/N has not learned magic on her own accord. She lived in the captivity of a dark guild since she was born. Over a long period of time they mixed her blood with that of a demon. A demon from Zeref's Book nontheless. I don't believe it is my place to speak about the circumstances of her captivity. Just know that she was forced to do terrible things which is why she abhors using her magic and never does so towards humans," Makarov paused and I realized how tense I had become.
"Through the experiments, she was forced to take on blood sorcery", Master saw my eyes widen and continued. "She is able to control and manipulate blood in any form. As you may know, this type of magic is incredibly strong. However, especially when used on the battlefield, the demonic blood in Y/N rages and can overpower her if she is not careful. She would never use this magic against humans, but against monsters it makes her nearly invincible."
No words would leave my mouth so I just nodded and cleared my throat. "Do the other guild members know?", I finally asked. Makarov responded while glancing out the window, "Yes and no. Most know Y/N to have a dangerous magic that is hard to control. Only a few have seen her in action when we took out the dark guild many years ago. Since then Y/N has learned to practice blood sorcery differently. She has delevoped healing techniques that allow her to specialize in treating diseases, blood loss and poisoning."
Makarov had returned his gaze to me and this time he had a small smile on his lips. In this moment he looked a lot like a proud grandfather.
"It is impressive, to believe she was able to turn something so deadly into a healing power", I noted.
"Of course! Our Y/N is not only beautiful but smart as well!", Makarov boasted. "Anyway, I hope you understand why I assigned Y/N to support you on this mission."
I nodded in agreement. Even if I prefer to work alone, I trust the Master's judgement and we still don't know how many guilds consisting of monster are out there.
