Sherlock glared at his phone. Brush his teeth, why was Mycroft being so adamant that he kiss John. He had lived a year with John and his jumpers and not once had his sentiment gotten the better of him. He closed his eyes and turned off his phone, dropping it on the end table.
Sherlock looked at the closed door to the bathroom and sighed very softly. Then he started to pace, he wouldn’t have been in this position if it wasn’t for Mycroft. As much as Sherlock hated to admit it, his brother was smarter than he was and only now did Sherlock realize that hiding his sentiments from his brother was a useless endeavor. He should have turned off his phone when the subject of their conversation had turned to his flat mate.
The water stopped in the bathroom, which made Sherlock tense. He glared at his turned off phone, as if it was its fault that he was in this predicament.
Why had he listened to Mrs. Hudson and John when they said he had to invite his brother to dinner? Oh right, because they wanted to show that they were happy for his and Lestrad’s most recent development. Of course, they hadn’t told Sherlock to write it into the letter he had sent on that awful flowered paper, and now Lestrad was ready to come over and Mycroft was not.
Sherlock’s desire for another murder to occur in the next five minutes does not come true as John unlocked the door and headed out of the room. He looked over at Sherlock who was still pacing, “You okay, Sherlock?”
“No. Mycroft.” Sherlock said, offering no other explanation. John crossed over to where Sherlock’s phone is. He picked it up and Sherlock twitched, he did not want John reading the messages sent between him and his brother.
John started to turn on the phone, “What is it? A case? Or more sibling rivalry?”
Sherlock plucked the phone out of his grip, “Something like that.” He and John are now a foot apart and Sherlock can smell his shampoo.
John rolls his eyes, “As long as he doesn’t start texting me, I don’t care.”
Sherlock swallowed, suddenly hyper aware of his Chinese food breath. Would John care? Why had Mycroft told him to kiss the Army Doctor? He closed his eyes and let out a breath; the moment had passed.
John smiled up at him, looking at his mouth as Mycroft had told Sherlock he did. “Sherlock, what’s bothering you? You can tell me.” John sighed, “It’s obviously something important and I don’t fancy you playing violin all night long, it’s always awful when you’re thinking about Mycroft.”
Sherlock blinked down at his flat mate, who is not wearing a shirt. A water droplet is slowly making its way down the Army Doctor’s chest; Sherlock has no clue why it is so interested.
He moves, throwing all caution to the wind, and presses his mouth to his flat mates. The taste of his spicy Chinese food does not blend well with the taste of mint from John’s toothpaste. He pulls away suddenly, his brain catching up with the heart he had forgotten he had possessed.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me, it won’t happen again.”
“Next time brush your teeth, I don’t mind kissing you, just not after you’ve eaten.” John laughs at the look on Sherlock’s face. “Now kiss me again, don’t make me order you.”
Sherlock does, pressing his mouth onto John’s amazingly warm mouth. John wraps an arm around Sherlock’s neck, pulling the Detective closer to him. Sherlock is uncertain as to how to proceed as he slowly wraps an arm around John’s waist. He opens his mouth shyly when John pressed his tongue against the seam of his lips. Then John is mapping every centimeter of Sherlock’s mouth and Sherlock’s brain stops functioning properly. Sherlock moans and John chuckles against his mouth.
When they break apart a few minutes later, both slightly winded and flushed, John is laughing. “Please don’t tell me Mycroft had to tell you to kiss me.” When Sherlock is silent, John laughs harder. “For the most intelligent man I have met, you are an idiot, Sherlock.”
Sherlock is about to turn and walk away when John grabs him by his scarf and drags him down for another kiss. Sherlock decides that the humiliation is worth it and kisses John back.
