every 3rd one on the theatre questionnaire!
Yay! I love answering these ehehehe
Ooh, this is hard. I'm stuck between Ramin Karimloo and Hadley Fraser. I love both of them so much, and their dynamic is always great - especially when they're together.
The ultimate dream role is Grantaire. R is my favorite literary character of all time, and I could probably write you an essay longer than the Brick itself on why he's so fantastic. However, you don't really see a lot of females playing male scripted roles. That, and I can't really sing. In general, though, I think it's always fun to be the villain.
Not in a professional one, no. At my school, though, we do this thing called 24-Hour Theater. Basically, we're split up into two or three troupes, and then locked in our school for 24 hours. During that time, we must write, cast, and rehearse an original one act play to perform the next night in front of an audience. I love it so much, it's a ton of fun to see what everybody comes up with, and I'm very sad to know that we're not doing it this year.
12. Seen an Off Broadway Play?
Never a play, but I've seen Avenue Q off-Broadway before.
No, but it's on my theater bucket list!
18. Ever starred in a show?
Unfortunately, no :( I was going to audition for my school's production of The Laramie Cycle (Laramie Project and Laramie: Ten Years Later), and I actually stood a chance with my director who normally picks favorites. Then I found out that I wouldn't be here for our first weekend of performances, so that killed that dream.
Send my love to Bernadette - she's fabulous - but I'm a huge Patti fan, through and through!
24. Newsies or Book of Mormon?
I think I have to go with Newsies, since I've been a fan of the story ever since I saw the movie as a kid. I haven't seen Book of Mormon yet, though, so I don't know if I can accurately say. I think I'm going to see it when it comes to town this spring, though....
27. Shakespeare or Contemporary?
Gah I can't pick! I love both, and I think there's great things about both. Shakespeare is a classic for a reason. We still perform his works today because they're simply fantastic. But then I see what works are out there today, what's getting nominated for Tonys, and I just gahhhh everything's fabulous
30. Why do you love theater?
Personally, I love theater because it gives me the opportunity to become someone I'm not. For a few hours, I'm not Rachel anymore - I'm a townsfolk of Grover's Corner or I'm a dancing piece of cutlery in the Beast's castle or I'm slumming it in Saint Michele. It's amazing how a change of wardrobe and some makeup can turn you into a whole new person. I love it :)
