I love doing character designs, they’re just so much fun, so here are a couple designs and ref sheets I’ve done in between some of my other works.

This stuff’s obviously a lot more loose than what I usually do but it’s an enjoyable process and I thought I’d share some of it.

Queen Viarra’s Ladies

So I now that four arms options exist in Hero Forge, I went ahead and designed minis for Queen Viarra’s ladies, as well as Viarra in noncombat attire. (Not that she needs combat attire to kick ass.) Below we have Viarra, Elissa, Zahnia, Pella, and Naddie: 

Viarra’s preferred colors are dark blues and dark greens, so most of her dresses tend to fit along those lines. I just wish Hero Forge would add more Ancient Greek clothing aesthetics to their lineup. I also like that the new hand poses allow her to look like she’s about to draw steel on some misogynist nobleman. 

Elissa is Queen Viarra’s handmaid, girlfriend, and later royal concubine. She’s a very humble and unassuming character who loves being beside her queen, but hates being so close to the center of attention. I tried to make her modesty apparent in her design. 

Tiny, ageless Zahnia is Queen Viarra’s chronicler, historian, and biographer. Experimented on by evil wizards/mad scientists, Zahnia and her friend Pella escape their captors, eventually finding themselves in Queen Viarra’s service. Recognizing Zahnia’s introspectiveness and resourcefulness, as well as the advantages of her immortality, Queen Viarra has her taught to read and write and trained to be her court historian. 

Pella with Queen Viarra’s cat, Corsair. Pella was given four arms by the same experimenters who made Zahnia immortal. While most people urge Pella to hide her arms, Queen Viarra and her handmaid, Naddie, tell her to show them proudly. Queen Viarra assures Pella that her arms are beautiful and nothing to be ashamed of. Naddie assures her that she’s the best hugger and kitten scratcher in the world. 

Naddie is Queen Viarra’s youngest handmaid. Bright and inquisitive, Naddie admires everything about her queen, and loves being around the many amazing women in Viarra’s entourage. She openly believes Zahnia and Pella are the coolest girls she’s ever met, and she hopes to one day be in a relationship like Viarra and Elissa’s. I’m currently considering her for Pella’s future wife.

More OC rambling...

- Decided to change up Delara (Al's half sister; follows the tag #Del) occupation. She is no longer a soldier in each of her AUs. Instead, she is a bounty hunter (more specifically, an arcane ranger). She still has her bear (Kolos), still marries Egg, and either has/adopt a son nicknamed Mole (Moseby in modern/Pokemon aus).

- Delara has three younger siblings (they're triplets): Benteire (#Ben), Catalina (#Cat) and Dulcinea (#Dolly). Ben feels a heavy burden to carry on the family name; Cat and Dolly are the "princesses"/spoiled rotten and tricksters; Del wasn't about being a "lady" - so she willfully left her noble ties and sought a life of adventure.

- Al, Del, Ben, Cat, and Dolly share the same father. Their father is unaware of Al's existence (until it is brought up to him - depending on the AU). Del meets Al after taking on a bounty of Egg's head (Egg's story is that he, unintentionally, crossed a bunch of gang members/pirates... Again, depending on the AU).

- In fantasy AUs where there's gryphons, Al's gryphon and Del's bear do not get along. At. All.

- Also in fantasy AUs, Al specializes in summoning and eletrical magic (he still cares for animals as a vet, or the closest thing to it in medieval/fantasy settings); Dolly and Cat specializes in fire and ice magic respectively; Del specializes in arcane magic (she's an arcane ranger); Ben has no magical talent.

- Onto a different family: Bae's family (The Amberhelms/Ackerman/Angwin/etc.) is a military family. Military service is tradition and expected of its members. Svenja (#Sven) served before leaving and pursuing a career in politics (eventually becoming an ambassador or senator, depending on the AU). Bael/Baen (#Bae) was discharged; Jacobi (#Jac) also served before also leaving and becoming a scientist; Nadine (#Naddie) served and eventually became a career officer.
