There goes my Lin-Lin hopes :(
I was really hoping for SOME kind of info on Lin's backstory in Book 2 to work with, especially seeing as I plan to finish What I Learned at SRU this fall and start working on Esteemed around the end of the year (hopefully shortly after Book 2 finishes airing). And I mean, we might still GET that but I'm trying to keep my expectations in check.
So far all of the Avatar comics (The Promise, The Search) as well as Legend of Korra have (thus far!) left me wanting more, but not in the literal sense like ATLA but in the "I-wish-less-time-had-been-spent-on-_____-and-instead-on-things-I-care-about."
It will be somewhat frustrating to invest too heavily into Esteemed, only to have a single episode or even scene in Book 3 or 4 undermine the entire story, but then again I suppose this has already happened to hundreds of fans who wrote "post-war" ATLA fics, and hey, they can still be well-done even if they don't match up to canon. So I guess I'll just have to suck it up and go forward with my own vision based on what info is known at the time.
imakenosuchpromises answered: I love you for this. I don’t like writing porn either (one reason for my choice of muse) but just - Thank You from all us non-sexual folks
Haha, it's not something special, I'm just...writing what I feel I should be writing, is all. -^_^- I think sexuality is an inherently normal part of being human -- I just think it's something that is best left private. Like going to the bathroom, only hopefully more meaningful?
squarehere answered: You tell’em! It’s your story to write as you please. There’s a TON of avatar smut (art & stories) out there.
I worry how much more feedback like this I'll be getting once I'm writing about canon-based grownup Gaang. >_>; Because as of right now, I actually intend to write Esteemed as MORE reader-friendly, ie no-swearing, and while I'm still deciding on how I want to tackle violence, it will probably skew more towards the "PG-14" either way since I still will not be writing sex scenes.
naixill answered: I can’t believe people pressure you to write smut.
I've been pressured to write Makorra, to UNDO romantic breakups, to write ships that would never happen in canon OR in my own AU, and all manner of other weird things I find hard to understand, so this isn't new, it's just the first time a reader has been so supposedly self-righteous about this idea that smut inherently makes everything better or something.
