As mentioned on episode 90, I thought I would post some photos of when I when I went to a temple on New Year's Day in Japan. (Just to clarify, we were talking about Shinto shrines on the show, but these photos are actually of a Buddhist temple).
Photos taken at Nakayamadera in Takarazuka, Hyogo, Japan on New Year's Day (almost 20 years ago 🥲). As you can see, this is an incredibly popular temple to go to on New Year's Day. The tradition of visiting a shrine or temple on the first of the year is called Hatsumode - people pray to have a good year.
The last photo is of me - posing by an ume tree on the temple grounds that was already blooming in January. Let me know if you like posts like this or not, and I can post more photos in the future. - Mika💜

A hymn reverently dedicated to Eleven-Faced Kannon in thankfulness for grace and gratitude for blessings:
Passing through the fields And leaving the town behind, We pay a visit To this mountain temple for The sake of the world to come
