The pilgrims’ hymn for Nakayamadera Temple (中山寺) from a hymnal for the thirty-three temples of the western pilgrimage circuit dedicated to Kannon Bodhisattva (観音菩薩)
My own rough, tentative translation follows:
Number Twenty-Four: Mount Purple Cloud Nakayamadera Temple (Shingon School) in Kawabe District, Settsu Province
Nakayamadera 2-chome, Takarazuka City, Hyōgo Prefecture
A hymn reverently dedicated to Eleven-Faced Kannon in thankfulness for grace and gratitude for blessings:
Passing through the fields
And leaving the town behind,
We pay a visit
To this mountain temple for
The sake of the world to come
