Naming Resources
Because every content creator names there characters. Here’s a couple that I frequent.
http://www.20000-names.com
This website is my favorite, it has names from different countries as well as organizing them by meaning or theme. 10/10
https://www.behindthename.com
Also a really good website because it gives you the historical background on names. It even gives good surnames too. Highly recommend this one.
http://www.meaning-of-names.com
This site is very good if you want a very specific type of name. It really allows you to make a selective search and is a huge time saver.
https://nameberry.com
It’s a baby naming website, but comes up with some really good names that I wouldn’t have thought of . Authors also frequent the site dot there’s also forums of discussions looking for specific types of names and such. It even lists the popularity of the name.

Sometimes you just need to pick word for a name and naming your character Chòu is the best way to get away with calling them smelly.
Feel free to add some naming sites when you reblog

how do I fix my brain
hey, the name that i really like and identify with does not flow with my last name at all, is it worth it or should i give up on that name and keep looking? thank you!
hey, anon! (almost wrote anono)
so, the thing about name flow (pro tip for those peeps out there) is that there’s a few things that make it sound good , if that makes sense.
the few basic ones I’ve found in what I like is
syllables - [for example Jaximus Hyun Park or Jameson Hyun Park vs. Jax Hyun Park or James Hyun Park] the syllables, I think, make the biggest difference.
the ending sound leading into the last name - so, Jack Park sounds v harsh and too choppy, so an alternate name could be James Park, Jameson Park, Jacob Park.
the beginning letter - this is probably the least important out of all of them, to be honest. There are few letters that work with another, in all honesty, and there’s no set “rules” really; it’s just based on preference and opinion, really.
so how can you fix your problem? (also try using your middle name [if you have one] into your full name and see if that works.
you can..
try an alternative of your name. say if my name is Elizabeth, I could say using Lizabeth, Liza, Lisa, Beth, Bethany, etc.
If it’s a short name like Nat, you can try lengthening it, if that’s what your problem is. So Nat can be turned into Nathaniel, Nate [the sound change thing here], Natalie, Nathan... so look around for variations or your name [google search maybe: variations of ___, nicknames for ____]
look out for other options. I mean you don’t have to do this if you’re fully set on a name, but also it’s nice to keep your options open, I think. :-) I personally just looked down a lot of lists and found my two options and then settled on Jax.
so yeah! I hope that was helpful to you! feel free to send another anon ask, if you need any specific name help ^^ we’ll be sure to get around to that soon
