I love how excited Em was to hear Name speak but he didn't put any pressure on him, just asked for a reply gently and then made an excuse to change the subject afterwards. But they both looked so shellshocked by the word, by the sound, by his voice.

My biggest pet peeve in BL and rom-com series are when they give up their dreams, goals and aspirations for love. I am a big advocate on everyone in their series having their own individuality for a healthy relationship…BUT THE WAY NAME CRIED AT THAT BUS STOP MADE ME FORGET EVERYTHING! Name spoke his first sentence, stood there visibly holding back tears, began crying, and then left me a book that is pretty much the story of how we met…I WOULD’VE FOLDED OR MOVED HIM INTO MY ROOM! My heart needs some fluff after this week of intensity and angst.
The agony of separation and the desperate pain of anticipated loneliness and the way they just look at each other and stare and everyone know, everyone knows what they mean to each other.
It's the way Em went out of his way to find ways to communicate with Name and the way he finds the time for him and the way he calls him on the phone but never pressures Name to talk and reads his words without ever complaining and the way Name is so, so happy to hear from him and so eager to know everything and to wait for him, no matter how long he waits.
But it's also how Name does wait, how Name's life is on hold as he stays home and all his friends have gone away to university and he clings to Em's contacts like a lifeline even as Em develops new friendships, new relationships, new work, new learning, new life. It's name waiting and asking questions and Em wanting to answer but also falling asleep chatting with him.
And it's how Name's joy fades when his mother mentions speaking.
Sufjan Stevens - The Only Thing
Just... look at them. Just look at them. At joy and pain and farewell and hope and loneliness and joy and the way they both love so much and the way they fit together so perfectly but now they're going to have to navigate a new relationship, a new way of being themselves and it is going to hurt so much but they need to grow as well.
The one thing I want from Remember Me that I am trying to will into existence is Name calling Em, picking up the phone and calling him despite being unable to speak and Em starting out patient and asking him and listening to silence and about to say goodbye because this doesn't work and then Name manages to say just one thing, one word and it's Em's name and suddenly Em is talking on the phone frantically while Name silently sobs on the other end because he's so lonely and they're so far apart and everything is changing and he's not ready but Em has to move froward and so does he.
Em teaching Name how to sign up for MSN and Name using their initials for his screenname and Em running between their homes to teach him about the chat and the way this allows them to communicate even more and deeply and the way they're just so happy to be talking. Name has been in love with Em forever, y'all.
