I miss you
Year1: Ipromised I would come to talk with you. I know that you’ve beenworried about your brother, so I’ve been doing my best to watchover him. Times like this, the agency feels the weight of yourabsent. It’s grown a lot quieter…now with you gone. Out of all ofus, you seemed to get most of the work done, afterall.Evenby your presence, you seemed to make things more vibrant. I’m notlying!Even Kunikida seems to find work harder without your organization andyour decision making. Iknow your brother has been having a hard time as well, so I’ll domy best and keep your soul in peace.
Year5: Didyou know? The president has finally found someone to replace you. Itwas a shock to us all, but he said it was about time that the seat befilled since we’re currently short on staff. Everyone had beenadamant about it earlier today, but eventually it was settled, andthe new rookie starts officially tomorrow. From the looks of it, sheseems to be good at her work, although somewhat naive. Haha, I’msure you would have gotten along. She could be your little sister, there’s some sort of resemblance there.
Speakingof family members, your brother has been gradually getting better.Years seem to pass by quickly for us all, so progress seems slow, buthe’s doing better. He’s eating more, and he’s put on his weightagain. Infact, he’s a lot better than before. I’m sure the him in the pastwould have quit as soon as possible with the President’sannouncement for your replacement. But, no, he didn’t. He wassmiling. There was a smile.
Ihope you’re smiling too.
Year10: Maybeyou’ve heard...No, no, maybe you’ve seenthedirector by now, but I’m not sure how fast it takes a soul to reachthe afterlife. The President just passed away a few weeks ago leavingthe agency in some turmoil, soI haven’t been able to visit properly. It was decided thatKunikida-kun will take over; it was the only natural decision, and noone seemed to mind that. It might be a little callous to say, butyou’re not lonely anymore, are you? Maybe you can speak with thePresident and finally find some comfort there.
Tanizaki-kunhas been doing better, but to our regret, Ranpo’shealth hassuddenly began to decline. Yourbrotheris helping him now, actually. You should be proud thathe’sgrown a lot.
