manifesting two clean skates and a world title for amber glenn this week, i know she’s got it in her!!! i am claiming it, i am putting this energy out there, and i believe in her!!

the thing about the stucky couple in heated rivalry is that unless you already know that they’re supposed to be the stucky couple, there’s nothing that makes it obviously identifiable as stucky. like the only stucky relevant detail is that scott hunter is the captain of the new york hockey team and that’s it. like the thing that makes stucky so compelling is the childhood friends aspect and bucky being the only one who truly knows steve pre-captain america transformation AND THEN bucky gets winter soldiered and it becomes steve is the only one who truly knows bucky. AND THEN there’s the whole captain america/winter soldier being stripped of their humanity and becoming symbols for the cold war AND THEN both are essentially immortal and men out of time so on another level they’re the only ones who understand each other. So beyond being from NYC (and they’re from a version of NYC that no longer exists to anyone else in their contemporary time!), they need to deeply and intimately be the only ones who know each other AND there needs to be an element of antagonism too. like they need to be forced by the world to be at odds with each other and part of the appeal is how they resist that. (now that i think about it shane and ilya have more merit as a stucky analogy EVEN THOUGH i know they’re not the adapted stucky fic). like a smoothie shop AU where they meet for the first time as fully grown adults just isn’t gonna cut it! also the bucky allegory has no resemblance to bucky barnes, one of my favorite characters to shake in a jar in my head so.

in the vein of people refusing to give taylor her full dues because of misogyny i also think people don't recognize a lot of taylor's influences because of misogyny. like not to be mean about a lighthearted post but i saw a post that was like who's taylor swift's taylor swift and a bunch of people said pete wentz and guys like no.... it's joni mitchell be so fucking serious right now.
