the most recent ch (986) also has the “wasted great moments syndrome” that OP’s been kinda having with Luffy taking Yamato’s handcuffs off. like, it was literally 3 panels, and just a throwaway scene in the chapter no one will think back as “damn Luffy taking off his cuffs? that shit really touched me emotinally.” 

if the same moment was at WCI, with Sanji, like people expected? it could be one of the best scenes post-ts, it had a build up, a real stake (noah fence Yamato honey we love you but you aint a SH) so Luffy doing that? would have been awesome. yet it was siked with a “fake cuffs” thing, which is, okay, we had enough else going on, no problem with that!

but repeaiting the same thing with Yamato now, except worse and less interesing? like.. what

wish Robin had a development left, because while people complainn that she doesnt fight/isnt on screen enough is that any wonder? her character arc basically ended at Enies Lobby, she got herself the found family she wanted and  that’s it, goodbye, she’s still around but basically done for. sure there’s still the poneglyhp reading left but that’s.. not it. it’d have been nice if besides the found family thing she’d be *actually* against the goverment as a goal and vendetta, maybe the same way as Law, because that’d mean that her haging out with the Revolutionaries and witnessing Mingo fucking up Dressrosa while the WG does nothing would have an actual emotional impact through her in the story. because she was just like “well :) guess we’ll fight” which is just. she spent most of her life emotionally repressed and doing evil shit for the survival, see: Alabasta, and EL finally “fixed” that, as in she’s openly friendly and affectionate to her crewmates now. but it could also have finally brought her inner sense of justice out, her hatered and rage against the government and the sytem and unfortunatly there’s not trace of that, and that’s what could keep her character to feel more “alive” instead of her being like a checkpoint the story passed

A random thought: that scene with Envy and Roy has everything most lame ass revenge scenes in anything wish they had... like 90% the time when the 3rd character goes “no dont kill him.. revenge doesnt solve shit” its just so fake like yass girl murder IS justified sometimes, but here it actually serves

What do you think of wano so far?

i know it’s partly the “weekly read syndrome” but it’s just so damn long... like i get it, more characters, more allies etc. but for real the Kaido dragon reveal, the last relevant thing, happened more than 80 chapters ago. For perspective, Sabaody to TIMESKIP is about 80 chapters, with Amazon Lily, Impel Down, the whole war, the ASL flashbacks.

And I’ve seen examples of Big Decisive arcs done excellently in the fraction of the ch count, Gintama’s ShoAss and Rakuyo arcs are like what, 12 eps each? Golden Kamuy’s Abashiri is like 15 chapters if that? And I’m not saying OP should go this short but damn Oda stop creating two dozen random characters we don’t give a fuck about every single arcs.

Other than that i definitely has the potentional to be a banger, imma be real i mostly care about Zoro getting some action finally, but i really wish it wasnt full of filler moments. Like why throw Luffy in prison if he’s just gonna fool arond there?

Character I find most attractive: objectively Suiryo’s Greedling-ass look has conditioned me to stan esp with the 3/4 sleeves but Garou had 2 arrows shot in him at some point, so its a hard choice

Character I would marry: Metal Bat seems to be a pretty good choice he’s hot and respects kids and women

Character I would be best friends with: KING of course. wish i could say Mumen Rider but he’s so much better than me that i think i’d spontaniously combust in his proximity like a demon on holy ground

A random thought: angst hoe here but au where Saitama in his 20-something loserhood takes in the freshly unbodied 15 year old Genos who’s got all the trauma from losing his family and body.. that’d be some good found family shit im here for

An unpopular opinion: the anime just aint it, even if season 1′s animation objectively slaps, the comedic beat and the character interactions are pretty off, and they make it boring and just eh. the manga all the way

A random thought: the ending is so freaking iconic? like the opposite of the boring ass shounen bossfight structure. also Yoh actually leaving the competition for Ren, with no bs “other way”? iconic moment, really didnt see it coming

A random thought 2: there’s one thing in this world giving me serotonin and its listening to the hungarian opening. i also like the russian and the polish ones

i have Sea-Storm Yamaneko bookmarked but I tend to have an amnesia of the first few fics i’ve read in the fandom and it was an eraly one, so i dont really remember anything. im very much due to a reread. Kiss Me Kill Me is fine!! just not a fave-fave. i’ll definitely have to read more by the author, i know they have more fics that sound good like a hitman au hello
