Have you guys ever thought that, in TCP, if it was an ordinary and regular fairytale, fantasy romance book Taryn would be the protagonist (as she fits in the delicate, lovable and kind princess trope) and Jude would be the ‘evil twin’ antagonist of the story?

And Locke would indeed be the honorable and gentle Prince Charming and Cardan the evil, selfish and despicable villain?

That’s why I love this book so much! It’s a completely deconstruction of the fairytale characters, patterns and tropes!

Okay weird thought I just had after watching some Volume 7 clips:

Clover is basically a super dark, deconstructionist take on the whole himbo, 'pure of heart, dumb of ass' character.

Like he's this tall, buff guy who's super friendly and nice to the people around him and generally always trying to help and look out for his friends.

Except his 'dumb of ass' trait turns out to be 'blind, unwavering faith in a corrupt, oppressive and broken system/regime and the BFF who's one little trauma-button push away from fascist dictator funtimes' which in turn leads Clover to turning on his friends without a second thought and ultimately gets him killed in a completely avoidable way if only he hadn't been such a fucking idiot.
