I’m Winning Right Now, At This Very Moment, And You Can Too!
And now, a supercut of all the amusing shit said about me in this latest round, which led to much blocking and, in one instance, literally calling me evil! First off, I want to be clear on something. Folks may recall, I literally described this, with a bit of candor and humor, on April 22. I’ve never been particularly shy about it.
I will, of course, start with the person in question.
But in a way, thank you. You have quite frankly spared me some time but clearly laying out what it is you’re going for. You don’t care for civility, conversation or even anyone’s opinion at all. You just care for a weird sense of satisfaction over “winning” this game that you’ve invented. And fortunately for you, your rules are laid out so that you even win when you’re confronted with someone smarter, because that person would clearly cease contact and, by your rules, lose.
Well, today you have truly earned that I will block your valuable contributions from my blog forever. I refuse to be your lube in that creepy, masturbatory scheme that is your Tumblr existence and if you define that as your “win”, be my guest. You’re winning a game that I never wanted to play.
With the tag #you need therapy.
Classy. However, I like how they blatantly admit they’re simply going to ignore the rest of the response and go to this part, and then proceed to pretend they have a moral high horse to ride into battle. Well, here is the thing, it’s actually a pony and its name is Karl and it is not suited for such things. I like that they managed to slip in the tacit insistence about being confronted with someone smarter, which certainly means them, and also the narrow view that my winning means someone else loses.
I like, too, that they accuse it of being a “creepy, masturbatory scheme,” particular when better part of a majority of the anti fandom could be called a “creepy, circle-jerk scheme,” frankly. And the implication of self-centerness; a game they never wanted to play? They never were.
Okay, I knew that winning this game was all he ever cared about but I don’t remember him admitting it this way before. He’s basically saying ‘I’m always a winner’.
Sure, Rem, whatever makes you happy.
Well, @remedialaction, you really deserve to be totally ignored. Not because you’re annoying, not because you don’t respect tags, not because you never take your shipping goggles off, not because you’ll never admit defeat but because you think you’re smarter than everyone else. Giving you attention after knowing this equals accepting this image you desperately want to create about yourself and honestly I don’t see why I should help you with that so from now on, you should consider yourself blocked.
Well, the irony is, you accuse me of shipping goggles and never admitting defeat, but the thing is... you’ve never managed to actually prove me wrong, not on the scale you pretend. You have made a few points of factual correction, namely about specific things said in the manga, which I conceded when it happened, and the irony was it still didn’t matter because none of those points actually changed the outcome of what was said for either party. I’m going to be blunt: I do think I’m smarter than many of the folks I talk to in the anti fandom, at least in the narrowly defined category of what we are talking about. I do not think I am somehow universally better than everyone, at everything.
Giving me attention had nothing to do with it, but hey, try to pretend its something I ‘desperately want to creat about myself’ and not something born out by the fact I’m the one arguing “we actually CAN’T ignore Kishimoto’s word...” and not trying to justify a conspiracy theory about him selling out.
Moving on to honestly my favorite, though... @gweatherwax said:
And now you know why I call rem Adolf and recommend everyone blocking his evil ass.
Y’all would’ve saved a lot of trouble and time if you had listened to ole thick-skinned granma, but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, old people are always wrong in their opinions and you have to “be the better person”…
I am now evil. Literally, this person not only doubled down on comparing me to Adolf Hitler but has literally called me evil for this. Thick-skinned? You literally block folks before they’ve even said anything to you. This is not some reactionary and justified “they’re harassing me, or talking to me and being bad,” or the like. You literally admitted to going into pro-posts and blocking everyone who reblogs or likes it. That is not thick-skinned.
It’s funny because I remember his admission to me about it being a game to him is also what eventully drove me to block him. It’s at that point I realized there was absolutely no point in humoring his ideas because in the end, no matter how well you counter his arguments, he’s going to twist things to keep the conversation going and pretend you’re “losing” because in this game he plays he must always be the “winner”, meaning as soon as you stop responding he wins. He literally HAS to have the last word, so arguments with him never end. And even if he’s the one who decides to stop talking he’ll act like it was because you weren’t worth arguing with anymore and still declare himself a “winner”. It’s an endless cycle of shit.
The problem with this is no one ever managed to actually ‘counter my arguments.’ Literally, they’re just based on what Kishimoto said, what happened in the canonical ending, etc. That’s the problem. I’ve discussed it before, that for the contrary to be right, we have to extrapolate a near conspiracy theory level of belief of how he ‘sold out’ else you end up like the hate blogs that literally are just anti everything Naruto, hate Kishimoto and say he’s a hack. But you folks can’t entirely do that because you still have to pretend that your ship is somehow spared from this.
And the thing is, the betrayal of intent here is precisely why I worded it the way I did: by admitting the ‘no matter how well you counter his arguments’ part, the admission is that, in reality, the one who was never going to admit they were wrong was not me, but you, and the rest of folks who echo this sentiment. The basic principle being is you inherently considered me to be wrong, the moment I opened my mouth, no matter how much canonical or authorial support I could back up any given point with.
Which is precisely why I defined winning not based on what you did, but outside of you.
@wind-strengthens-fire added:
#i didn't deserve that. #bih how did you not #and yeah we talk about you #cuz the way you think is stupid like no one thinks you're intelligent go home stay home don't come back #this is why we don't like pros #anti
I’m grinning ear to ear. This is why don’t like pro’s indeed; because their existence and refusal to stop pointing out the pillars supporting the rickety construction called your views makes them terrible and stupid. Mockery is thus the tool used, because if you can’t actually beat them, mock them.
And finally, from @theycallmemrtibs:
True face of the supposed Pro-Ending fandom finally revealed for all to see. Well done!
Now, I want to be clear. Do not, I swear to God, DO NOT send these people hate in any way, that isn’t the point, and that’s always wrong, period. Instead, simply sit back, and bask in the glow of folks who posture and accuse, rather than actually address the points I make.
