Definitely Naruto and Sasuke (ofc ofc). Whichever year.
(Though Naruto Pain Arc remains my fav I think)
Gaara. Btw, have you ever seen the first sketch for his character?
Seeing the process, I just really love how Gaara eventually turned out design-wise. (Exclude 'Boruto', someone help his slicked hair please and ruffle it. Not even a fight gets a damn strand out of place.)
Pain:
Kishimoto added piercings to his "rebel Naruto" drawings and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it- but it makes sense? And just the nail polish (on all members), punk hairstyle, loud color, attitude.. it fits so well. I love it.
Madara:
Speaking of attitude.. this man oozes power it's just *chefs kiss*. From his child to adulthood design, it's so perfectly well done. So.. Madara. It's one of those characters where Kishimoto's talent really shines through in my opinion.
Kakashi:
Iconic design. The mask, headband and grey hair.. most people that know Anime, even if they haven't seen Naruto, know Kakashi. Regardless of its meaning it adds a sense of mystery because you immediately wonder- what's behind the mask? Why is he hiding his face? What would he look like? Genius.
I especially love his child design.
This stage Tayuya:
Love the horns so much I was pleasantly surprised given the fact that some of the 'transformations' during this Arc were kind of.. interesting.
Kimimaro:
Everything.. the hair, face.. his abilities. One of the most interesting characters and the most fascinating design-wise.
Yagura Karatachi (Three-tailed Jinchuuriki and 4th Mizukage)
Mei Terumi (5th Mizukage)
Other characters I like design-wise are: Haku, Konohamaru, Sasori, Deidara, Konan, Shippuden Kiba, Kisame, Tenten, Sai, Kurotsuchi, Orochimaru, Utakata, Kokuo (5 TB), Kid Obito, Fu, Mito Uzumaki
And uuhhh.. I'm probably forgetting some but these come to mind~
