Hot take: something that should be more common in Naruto is special combat techniques using weapons, tools and hand-to-hand styles, instead of going through x amount of hand-signs for their Ninjutsu.

Imagine if pure chakra and/or elemental affinities were used for Taijutsu to fight like Benders in Avatar, or Kenjutsu specialists unleashing their own version of techniques like Divine Departure and Getsuga Tensho.
