1) whats your in-flight entertainment go-to? book, podcast, movie, other?
2) how early do you go to the airport?
I like checking out whatever’s on the airplane seat tv if there is one, bc they’ll generally have a different selection than the streaming services I pay for on my own! If there’s nothing that looks good I am a big reader. I’ve been carrying around IT for most of 2026 because I exclusively read it when I’m on the road.
I kind of love being in the airport because once I’m past security it’s like the wild goddamn west. Let’s all sit on the floor and borrow stranger’s phone chargers and fuck around with nothing to do but wait. Plus, goddamn I love to be drunk in an airport. And if I’m travelling for work, getting to the airport is when my employer starts paying for my meals. All that being said, the earliest I’m willing to get to the airport is 3 hours and the latest is 1.
I can't feel a thing
I keep looking at my mood ring
i still find it baffling that there's people out there who took this song as a genuine endorsement of Wellness Bullshit when it has that chorus and the line "Let's fly somewhere eastern, they'll have what I need". i find it difficult to imagine a more obviously satirical song about the topic that wouldnt sound like it was written by weird al
Carpenter ants in the dresser,
flies in the screen:
it will be too late by the time we learn
what these cryptic symbols mean
oh hey it's my favourtite song of all time. i really like the version of these lyrics where he sings "huge black flies in the screen." i actually just love this whole live version, if anyone listens to one thing i post for this ask meme you should listen to this:
here did you find the homebrew for your ghost shadow orc oc? I'm super interested in that since I'm running a shadowfell adventure right now
I made them!
I have a variety of homebrew races that I want to some day release little infodumps into the world, but for now they’re still a WIP. For the race stats and a little bit of info on how I personally have the different races set up, here are some screenshots!
That’s all for the Shadow Orcs, and here are some extra snippets about the elf variants I have available (I know drow aren’t in the Shadowfell but some people might be interested in seeing the homebrew stuff I have for ghost drow anyway!)
Most of this is like super specific for how I envision elves and orcs in my setting, since elves are pretty much the crazy feral ones and the orcs (at least the Shadowfell ones) are the reasonable ones. You can read more about my elves over HERE
nastypass replied to your post: AH it’s National Girlfriends Day too
when’s national tfw day, huh
Now the right punchline might be to reply with a feels meme here, but in fact, “that feel” we’re enjoying today is love and support for the gfs with their gfs today
Also I couldn’t find a feels guy face with a cat base
please discourse about captain planet i need to hear this
tumblr never notified me about this message omg so i’m gonna put my captain planet discourse (idk if i can actually call it discourse?) under the cutwarnings for mentions of: racism, classism, very brief mention of serophobia/homophobia
i have seen a Lot of episodes of captain planet and like
-almost every main villain is some kind of representation of capitalist greed that drives corporations to harm the environment in their pursuit of $$$ (looten plunder and hoggish greedly are the biggest examples of this. there’s also duke nukem and dr blight who represent scientists that are fine with harming the earth to achieve their goals, sly sludge who claims he can get rid of trash easily so he can charge a ton of money for his services and then disposes it in ways that harms the local ecosystem, etc)
-the villains, especially looten plunder and hoggish greedly, often target places and populations that are already vulnerable, like iirc there was an episode where looten plunder dams off an african village’s water supply to build a hydroelectric power plant, claims he’s giving them some things to help them out and then charges them exorbitant prices for it when it’s too late for them to go back to their previous way of life.most of the time the planeteers win in the end (doesn’t always completely undo what harm the villains did), but there’s an episode where looten plunder sets out to destroy an old growth forest and, well, he wins in the end. that forest is gone.
-also necessary to note: obviously a lot of episodes are… poorly handled bc it’s a cartoon aimed at young kids from the 90s (there’s an episode about hiv, you can imagine how badly that went? and an episode about drug addiction? and the troubles, apartheid, and palestine+israel… in one episode??? all of these episodes have verminous skumm as the villain so, idk, they’re very bad episodes with the same shitty villain)and most of the racial stuff is Also Extremely Poorly Handled, which i don’t think i’m qualified to discuss in detail, but the one thing i’ll mention right off the bat is i’m pretty sure wheeler is the only one who has it explicitly and very specifically named what part of the continent he’s from (he’s from brooklyn, ny). linka is pretty clearly russian, but i don’t recall if they mentioned the specific countries for kwame, ma-ti, or gi, let alone a specific city like they did for wheeler, and for gi there’s a lot of mishmash of different asian cultures (see the wiki for more details). so that’s a thing :/
-ultimately, the planeteers are incapable of fighting off the villains on their own and have to call on captain planet to help them. i interpret this as like, we have to band together because, only by our powers combined, we can have a chance to fight capitalists. individually we can’t make much of a difference but we can when we organise, etc etc
-also did i mention that linka calls wheeler an imperialist dog in the first episode, bc that happened
anyway i highly doubt that this is the interpretation we’re meant to take from the show, considering every episode has one of those “don’t forget to recycle!!!” kinds of things at the end that makes it clear they want people to feel individually responsible for the environment.i’m not trying to claim like “wow! this cartoon is so enlightened and did everything perfectly!” bc it Definitely Had Many Problems and i wouldn’t recommend rewatching it just for the handful of things it did right. i mostly know this stuff bc a few years ago for a while i didn’t have a computer or anything decent to watch on tv so i watched a lot of captain planet videos/episodes when they came on lol
it’s just interesting to see that, overall, the show did manage to correctly blame most of our environmental problems on rich people who have no one holding them back and specifically tend to target groups that are most vulnerable lol
tl;dr i like that ultimately captain planet can be boiled down to “the best way to save the planet is to band together to fight capitalism”
