“ i always trust that you’ve got my back ”
He had his own apartment (an entire building, actually) to get back to. But it was hard to go back into a city that looked the same and felt so different all at once. This safehouse, though -- it was familiar. It was exactly like it’d been in his own universe, one of their favorites. He had a hundred memories of this couch, a hundred memories of these four walls.
And a lifetime of memories of her.
Clint was fiddling with the kitchen cabinets, tightening hinges, fixing worn-out knobs. They had lapsed into a quiet, but Clint never minded the quiet when he spent it with her. He didn’t even know she was watching him until she spoke. “You can trust me to fix the kitchen anyway,” he quipped, glancing back at her with a smirk. “Some things are universal I guess. You’re terrible at cupboard maintenance, Nat.”

They had a system set up. Nat’s design, of course, she was always the better spy. He had a feeling these check-ins were less about debriefing the missions he and the other unregistered heroes took, and more about checking in on him, but she never said that and he never asked. He just strode up to her safehouse, and knocked the correct code.
“Captain Rogers, reporting in,” he said, smirking slightly. “How have you been Nat?”
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY ARIII
TYSM NAT AND SAME TO YOU ASWELL !!
NEW D&D HOUSE-RULE!
"Rolling a Nat 2"
Here's how it works
On a roll of exactly 2 (with GM permission), you may choose to technically succeed at the task you attempted
BUT, it's in the most dangerous, inconvenient, awkward, & potentially disastrous way possible
Try to ask the king for aid?
NAT 2
"THE LONG LOST PRINCE IS FOUND AT LAST, ANYTHING FOR MY BELOVED FAMILY!
Now, Son, surely you remember our families secret codes right? Otherwise we'll know you're a filthy imposter and we'll have to execute you slowly and painfully!"
Cue player distress and panic
I think it'll add a lot of Pink Panther/Mr. Bean energy and undue suffering to my campaigns, feel free to steal it for use in your own games
@romanovaspy
Clint joked around a lot. That was how he dealt with the crappy days. (Well, the standard crappy days anyway. The really crappy days... Those were different.) He joked a lot and talked a lot, and was open about the fact that he wasn't all that smart. But he paid attention. More than people realized. The details were so important when you were a sharpshooter. The angle of the wind, the tension in your back, it could make or break a shot. Clint didn't miss his shots. And he didn't miss the signals from his best friend.
The missions SHIELD sent them on could vary, from routine to mundane to dangerous. It killed him when they separated, but that was the job sometimes. There was no point in fighting that, all he could do was be there for her after the mission ended. Clean up his place a little, order a pizza, and get a bottle of something strong in case it was that kind of day. He had a feeling it was, but he'd follow her lead. He didn't even wait for the knock at his door, he heard the very subtle creak of her approaching footsteps, footsteps he'd know anywhere and he leapt up. Threw open the door and wrapped her in a hug. "Hi," he said simply. "Missed you, Nat." Sometimes he talked a lot, and sometimes he didn't need to.

thank you nat:)
