Does it ever bother you how many filipinos are pro- US ? Joining the US military is also very common in the filam community.. idk it just makes me sad how they don't mind being a puppet to western powers.
Apologies if this reply may be overdue.
It's definitely worrying and can be a cause for concern especially when looked at in the bigger perspective. Public opinion helps shape national policies and its attitude towards foreign relations policy-decisions. So if public opinion is receptive to US imperialist propaganda, it makes it easier for the West to consolidate their ideological, political, and economic monopoly in the Philippines. But at the same time, thankfully, it is not a surprise nor is it still a wonder why things are the way they are.
It is US imperialism itself that instills this ideological and economic monopoly over the country and therefore its people, in turn, shaping public opinion to favour its own interests and imperialist agenda. Kind of a base -> superstructure -> base situation.
The economic base (eg mode of production, relations and forces of production) shapes the superstructre (ie social norms, culture, ideology, public opinion, etc) which then in turn shapes, consolidates, or solidifies the existing economic base or further develops it.
This is why only a national democratic revolution of a new type can address the current contradictions inherent in the semi-feudal and semi-colonial society. To overcome the basic problems of imperialism, bureaucrat capitalism, and feudalism in the Philippines.
This will also promote a patriotic, mass-oriented, scientific, and anti-imperialist culture.
Hope this helps.
