also i think they chose the PERFECT way to end this season, especially considering this show was made on 5 canadian tax dollars and a dream and without any surety of getting renewed. like sure, it would have been great to see the press conference where they announce the irina foundation (as per the epilogue of the book), but we ended with shane and ilya getting their happy ending (this is a romance novel people!), a plan for their future, two more people on their side, and hockey maybe improving (thank you scott hunter). like that’s a great place to leave us and to leave ilya and shane!!!!

soapshipping aside i’m still thinking about primal fear

i haven’t read up on too many fan interpretations of the ending, but i didn’t think aaron & roy were faking (making the assumption that this is a popular take)

i saw the ending more as roy protecting aaron and making sure marty never reaches out to them again because he knows that aaron is vulnerable to fall to savior figures (as aaron states: marty saved his life). and to take it a step further, even when (supposedly) aaron was talking to marty at the end before roy officially broke the news, his demeanor was far less shy than his previous interactions and i interpreted it as roy playing off as aaron to convince marty (hence there also was also no distinct trigger that could initiate roy to front in that final scene as he does previously when aaron is overtaken by being forced to relive his emotional trauma).

both interpretations could be rich in their own ways but i think aaron being real adds a lot more nuance to the story

but maybe i’m just overthinking it, either way edward norton was sooo fucking good in this
