If you don't mind me asking, why don't you ship Marc ath? It's a popular ship, so I was wondering why you don't ship it.
Part of it is not really liking or caring about either character. Nathaniel I already don't really like, and Marc feels like added fluff that you can cut and not miss anything.
The other part is the ep that introduces Marc and the ship itself, with the issues coming from Nathaniel specifically. Why should I like this ship when Nathaniel comes in, gets upset over assumptions he made, destroys Marc's property, never feels guilty over doing do, and never apologies.
I think my last one might be too short but what do you think for this one as I don’t think this was explored: a superpowered lawyer tracks Marinette down and reveals himself as a superhero lawyer who takes on heroes for clients pro Bono, he won’t reveal any secret identities to anyone, and takes cases for being framed for a crime, collateral damage being blamed on them, or in this case: seeking royalties.
He can help superheroes sue for royalties on unlicensed films or shows made about their likeness taking advantage of secret identities. That animated ladybug and chat noir movie, you think she or Chat Noir were approached for permission or seen a single cent (unless you could that secretly chat noir was voiced by his own alter ego) or the music video but Marinette is more forgiving about that.
Rules for the blog - send a prompt
Bonus points if this person leanrs about what Marinette is going through at school and starts working to deal with the mayor’s blatant fascism.
Having all of her rights explained to her like this should definitely inspire her to confront Alya about telling people to photoshop her and Chat Noir together, if you consider the instagram to be canon. At the very least, she should confront her about the picture from Oblivio, since she clearly was not okay with it, and Alya posted it anyways.
And this confrontation then forces Alya to re-think her stance on ‘’Ladynoir’’, since Ladybug has now made it absolutely crystal clear, with no room for interpretation: She is not in love with Chat Noir, they are not dating, they are not a couple, and she never plans for that to change.
Alya starts actually paying attention and realizes exactly how messed up Chat Noir’s behavior is, and starts posting about it on her blog, spreading the word and educating people, which Marinette approves of wholeheartedly. Which leads to further issues, now with Adrien, who isn’t happy about being criticized.
Marinette should also demand that Marc and Nathaniel stop writing and drawing about her like a fictional character, and make an announcement to everyone that they are not allowed to do that.
Marinette is a superhero, and she’s famous because of that, but it doesn’t mean she’s public property.
[ID: The Anakin and Padme meme, edited so that the first panel shows the drawing Nathaniel from Miraculous Ladybug did of himself hugging Marinette, and says, “Look what I drew.”
Padme asks happily, “That’s an OC, right?”
The drawing now has Marinette overlyayed ontop of it, showing that she is identical to the drawing.
Padme repeats, her face falling in horror, “That’s an OC, right?” End ID.]
Anyways if you have kids don’t let them watch Miraculous Ladybug unless you’re going to sit there next to them and explain to them why the morals in every episode are completely wrong.
This show is encouraging people to draw and write RPF. They’ve done it multiple times, both within the show itself like in this instance and in another tied-in episode, and on Instagram and twitter. They are encouraging children to treat other people and celebrities like objects to put into romantic and sexual situations and it is not okay.
This episode?
Portrays Marinette’s classmate drawing her without her knowledge or consent as 100% positive and flattering. We’re supposed to think the fact that he draws his classmate that he isn’t even friends with kissing him and being in love with him is cute.
And with what they were doing on Instragram, it was explicitly without the victim’s consent that they were encouraging people to photoshop celebrities into romantic situations. Literally right after confirming that they are not dating and the teenaged girl in question does not want anyone to think of them as dating because they are strictly professional. They then literally, in the same post, laugh and encourage people to photoshop them into romantic situations together.
As I promised, this are just some of the plots for fics that I been thinking, a few for a while, others today or this week. Not all of them involve Lila, and even in those she’s not always the focus (Not all of them can be considered ‘salt’ exactly, while others can be labeled as ‘actions have consequences’).
In case anyone want to use them this are the rules (I can made them since this are my ideas):
First of all I want to be tagged for the original idea.
No OOC or bashing of any character (except Gabriel).
No Alya salt unless it’s minimum and only if she’s redeemed at the end. She already gets more than enough hate from the fandom.
Other than that, please refrain of using any of the tropes mentioned in this post:
Max has a crush on Lila, that’s why he keeps believing everything she says (I thought this long before the twitter comment; besides it says that Max’s asexual, not aromatic).
Kim wants to be supporting since she’s his best friend’ first love, even if he doesn’t believe all of her tales (he’s not ruining his chances to become an Olympic medalist following a training regimen that Lila insist ‘was created for my great uncle, a platinum medalist’).
Alix’s getting sick of Lila, if she wanted to hear some self-insert bad fanfic she would spend more time with her brother.
Juleka wants to believe Lila and follows her advices about 'how to be a good model’ until her family intervenes.
After getting several comments complaining of how the Ladyblog’s really unorganized, Alya finally decide to create a side blog (Miracutales) for all the fan-arts and fanfics links her followers keep sending her, and with Nora’s help she spends a whole afternoon fixing her blog. When Lila’s finally exposed the blogger freaks out until her sister comments “Wait, that interview? I send it to your fanfic blog ages ago”.
Lila going on and on to Mylene about a movie actor the other admires, how they’re 'like this’ and that 'I can introduce you to him, he thinks of me as his niece’. Meanwhile the rainbow haired girl’s just nodding with a forced smile while the Italian keep spewing bullshit about her favorite theater actress.
Nino barging into Marinette’s room dragging his little brother, saying that she needed to watch over him on his place since he has a date with Alya. Cue to Alya clearing her throat from the other side of the room, where they were working on a school project.
Lila stole Nathaniel’s sketchbook the day before an important meeting and hid it in Marinette’s locker. Ignoring almost the whole class insistence that she didn’t do it, that anyone could’ve put it in there since there’s no locks, he grabbed her own sketchbook from her bag and ripped it into pieces to everyone’s horror. Marc saw this and he’s akumatized; once it’s all over he still ends their partnership*
*Although cruel, I don’t believe that this is so out of character for Nathaniel. He already has proven to have serious anger issues in Reverser and Evilustrador (While I don’t hold him responsible for what he did under Gabriel’s control, comparing him to other akumas wanting to get revenge of Chloe it’s worrying how much pleasure he seemed to find while tormenting her).
Adrien keep blowing off plans to hang out with his friends to go away as Chat Noir, using the excuse that his father keep adding things to his schedule. One day after he canceled once again, saying that he has a last minute photo shoot, the boys are hanging out in the park where they cross with Vincent. He tells them that he’s the only photograph that Gabriel Agreste trust to work with his son, and that Mr. Agreste was away on a trip for the weekend so Adrien’s schedule was pretty much free until his father came back.
It’s election time again and the Mayor’s opposition has a new slogan: “If he can’t even control his daughter, how can we trust him to protect this city best interest?”
Someone as a joke proposed Xavier Ramier (Mr. Pidgeon) as Mayor. He won.
Felix GV returns and once again pretends to be his cousin. He’s dragged into a photo shoot with Lila; he may be a bastard who hates his uncle and he may be annoyed with Adrien but he still has standards.
With the end of the school year near Alya’s just relieved that since they’ll start Lycée they wouldn’t have to deal with Chloe and Bustier (with her fairytales for assignments) ever again. Until a conversation with Marinette.
“What do you mean we would have Bustier again next year? We’re done with Francoise Dupond! She was your teacher for five years in a row*?! That woman is an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER??!”
*Until Chat Blanc Marinette’s been in Chloe class for five years now, at least four of them with Bustier according to picture’s day. Their class’ in middle school a.k.a three years so…well, that explains a lot about her teaching methods.
Marinette decides to let go of her crush on Adrien (not bashing), and with Alya supporting her choice (even if she doesn’t totally agree with giving up) Rose becomes the new captain of the Adrienette ship; trying to get them together against her friend wishes.
After discovering Hawk Moth’s identity Marinette decides she’ll never be like him and toss aside her dream of be a famous fashion designer. She either finds a new dream or simply opens just a small store away from the spotlight, with sporadic commission for people she’s close to.
At last, I like to call this section’s “Responsible Adults (Are trying their best)”
Marinette doesn’t know every celebrity under the sun, only Jagged, Nadja and maybe Clara. Gina Dupain, world traveler extraordinary, however has a rare gift when it comes to meeting new people by chance without knowing who they are*.
(“I sat beside this guy once in a plane, he was such a charming young man. Here, there’s a pic” “Nonna that was *insert celebrity here*!” “Who?”)
*This in the only kind of celebrity insert I would aprove.
Surprise inspection from the French educational department (whatever it’s called), some heads are going to roll.
Officer Raincomprix at first was happy that Sabrina stopped hanging out with Chloe and made a real friend; then he realized that this girl was even worse than the Mayor’s daughter.
The school nurse accidentally cause an international affair after calling the Italian Embassy asking why the Ambassador’s daughter didn’t have the proper vaccines for all the travels she keep claiming to have made.
After seeing Nathalie faint in the middle of a car drive, a worried Gorilla brings her to the ER. While checking her vitals (she’s still unconscious) a nurse accidentally knocks her brooch out of her coat, and while putting it back a strange creature materialize in front of them.
“Any of you has Ladybug in speed dial?”
One of the Agreste servants (let’s be honest, how else would that place stay clean) discovers Hawk Moth secret lair.
Kagami deserved so much better, but seeing what a romantic she is in "Lies" was beautiful. Just substitute all her romance scenes with Adrien with Marinette instead, and it would be perfect~.
Side note: In "Lies", Kagami was shown to be an artist (and a good one) and has sketched some people, including her mom. Would this make her creepy like Nathaniel or not since she's not writing or drawing stories about real people?
Side side note: Imagine Artist!Kagami collaborating with Marinette. Kagami sketches designs while Marinette actually makes them and brings them to life. *chef's kiss*
Kagami deserved so much better and I can absolutely see her and Marinette being a cute artsy couple together. They're both such romantics and I just 🥰 thinking about them.
As for the drawing people thing I guess ideally Kagami would have consent, because like you're not allowed to take photos of people if they don't know and approve. But also, if my impressions are right, Kagami wouldn't want anyone knowing about her drawing in case it got back to her mum so is more likely to just keep it to herself and not ask. (Also like, I can't really fault her for that because when people know you draw they'll never leave you alone and she doesn't seem like she'd handle that real well.)
Anyway. I think because Kagami isn't really filling her sketchbooks with drawings of, say Adrien because she likes him, it doesn't really lean into creepy obsession.
Nathaniel on the other hand is like, obsessing over Marinette, to a point where he's bringing his fantasies to work on at school. Like, there's not a whole lot wrong with having fantasies about someone you like, but when it gets to the point that Nathaniel's taken it to and he's drawing out his fantasies at school where anyone could find it. It is uhhhh not great.
Like I'm not gonna say that it makes Nathaniel into a creepy stalker who's gonna start stealing Marinette's underwear or smth, and just because he's doing this at 14 doesn't mean he's not gonna grow out of it and realise how creepy that was. But also it's a little dodge how the show presented it to us and Marinette was just like, totally a-okay with it and not uncomfortable at all.
Anyway. I personally think that it's mostly just the result of the writers' personal biases because like, we all know that they're mostly middle-aged white men with some serious incel tendencies. And having Nathaniel do what he did is potential for some interesting storylines and a kind of lesson of sorts, but it's all been wasted by the whole 'i'm oppressed because i'm a nerd' attitude of the writers.
Rant about Ladybug's LGBTQ+ representation and couples in general.
Tbh I don't really like Marc that much. I see him (just my opinion) as the token gay character, considering his design and name. His only big appearance was his first appearance just to get shipped and instantly teleported to the background. We didn't know he existed, he and Nath didn't even know each other that much... idk. It's just... weird. Not only Marc but Marc...aniel as well.
Everything we knew about Nath was that he's a shy artist with an oh-so-cute crush on Marinette. Next big appearance and he's an asshole who adores Ladybug and then just... randomly gets a bf.
Unfortunately this isn't the first time they've done this. What I hate is that they kinda hyped up the LGBTQ+ representation just to... call them best friends (Jules and Rose) or slightly hint at them every ten episodes.
They did this with Mylè and Ivan too, but at least they get some individual screentime. Sometimes...
ML has a big problem managing couples. Once they're paired they're together forever.
Can we get an episode of Juleka with no Rose? Or Ivan with no Mylène? Even Nino with no Alya? I'd ask for Luka with no Marinette but that seems to be impossible.
Still, what pisses me off is that Marc isn't a good character. He could be a very very nice achillean representation, even gnc representation. But he's poorly managed. LGBTQ+ representation is not introducing an achillean character in one episode just to put him in the background and confirm through Twitter that he's in a relationship.
You have something against Marc/Nathaniel? Is there something bothering you about them? (Did I miss something bout this couple?)
Well, I said I don’t have anything against Marc/Nathaniel (live and let ship), but I guess that’s not entirely true? It’s more like...I’m ambivalent? I don’t care nor participate in the ship?
1. I’m just not as into Marc as most of the fandom is? His design is hella cute, but otherwise he didn’t really grab my attention. Then again, half the fandom jumped on Nathaniel and I also wasn’t really impressed with him.
2. This was the first episode since his akuma that Nathaniel was an important player and he was...kind of a dick? Like, what a reaction to a misunderstanding.
3. They end the episode with just having become friends and having been introduced to each other in this episode, so to jump into “They’re in a relationship” feels like we missed some steps, especially with how Nathaniel acted earlier. I feel like there needs to be time to build up that trust and friendship before I start shipping them.
Now, I totally believe that Marc probably started the episode with a crush on Nathaniel, but since they’ve never talked and most of his admiration was based off his technical skill, I would also totally believe that that crush would be killed by Nathaniel ripping up Marc’s notebook. Even with Nathaniel apologizing and them collaborating at the end, I feel like Marc would be starting his feelings from the starting line again instead of building on his existing crush, since he’s getting to know Nathaniel one on one. And Nathaniel is literally just not learning who Marc is.
I don’t not ship them. I’m just not really invested in either of them and feel like they have a lot of growing with each other before they date. And I honestly can’t tell if Nathaniel would be interested in Marc that way, but that’s what headcanons are for. I just need more of them interacting before I start feeling strongly about it.
AU where Marinette sues Thomas Astruc about making a movie on her and slandering her image. Cause making a movie about real people without their consent, and than invent fears for them is not fucking OK. She also dosen’t treat Nathanial comics in a nice eye.
