Maypop! The fruit of the purple #passionflower, one of two passionflowers native to Virginia. I learned about these in one of Sam Thayer's excellent #foraging books. A few weeks later, I happened to encounter a ton of them in a field at work! Our local supermarket had #fingerlimes, so we picked up a pack to try - and to taunt @headchefjen with our delicious native fruit. Flavour verdict: more purely acid than limes, with less complexity, and the pearls had less juice than I expected. Next up...Chokecherry jam! I literally have to run out every morning just before sunrise to beat the birds to these but it's so worth it!
