I’ve been dealing with nausea almost every single day for the past few months and I’ve finally found a few things that help me so I’m sharing them! Maybe it’ll help someone who’s in a similar situation
- cuddle with cats (idk why but I totally underestimated the healing powers of a purring cat lol)
- watch a complex tv show or movie you really have to pay attention to in order to understand what’s going on. For me House Of Cards does the trick.
- cut out spicy, acid/sour and overly sweet foods and stick to mild foods that are easy to digest like rice, rice waffles, crackers, white bread, bananas and potatoes.
- no really.. the first time I only ate rice, toast, rice waffles and bananas was the first day in weeks that I didn’t get nauseous! I was so relieved!
- breathing exercises! I breathe in for 3 seconds, hold my breath for 3 seconds and then let it out for 3 seconds or more. Helps to calm my heart beat and usually relieves the nausea a little bit.
- allow yourself to stay in bed and not move until you’re feeling better! Your stomach is being a little bitch, don’t force yourself to go out or exercise or do other things that might make the nausea worse! Stay.In.Bed.And.Take.Care.Of.Yourself.Bitch!
- Alcohol. Nope. Bad idea.
- peppermint tea (personally one cup is more than enough. I once got nauseous from having too much so...)
- sleep it away. Honestly Idk if that helps just me but I usually get nauseous in the evening or late afternoon so I tend to go to bed early to just sleep it away lol Laying in bed suffering and panicking because I’m actually terrified of throwing up is straight up mental torture and I ain’t dealing with that.
- do literally anything to distract yourself from the nausea! Doing things that challenge my mind as much as possible helps me the most. I usually watch House Of Cards and play Pokemon or other videogames at the same time lol
- try meditation! I know I know... who’s got time to meditate right? I have ADHD and literally can’t concentrate on things that bore me but sometimes I’m able to meditate for just a few minutes (3-5 minutes) Look up guided meditations on YouTube, they’re very calming!
Most importantly though: Please go see a doctor if you experience nausea regularly!! In my case it’s probably gastritis (still have to make some tests to make sure and then they should pump me up with medication to make it go the fuck away). Daily nausea is not normal and definitely not pleasant! Go see a doctor and talk to your friends, family or teachers to get support and understanding for when you have to cancel plans, stay in bed or when you’re not able to get work done.
