These Nautical Birthday Party Cookies are a delightful addition to any nautical-themed celebration. With their vibrant blue and red colors, intricate nautical designs, and a touch of edible gold, these cookies capture the spirit of the sea.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Blue and red food coloring. White royal icing. Edible gold star decorations.
Instructions: Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl with a whisk. Melt the butter and mix it with the sugar in another bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ones one at a time and mix them together until a dough forms. Separate the dough into two pieces. Use blue food coloring on one half and red food coloring on the other. Mix the colors together until they are spread out evenly. Put each color of dough in its own piece of plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for about an hour. Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough until it is about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters with nautical themes to make shapes out of the dough. These can be anchors, boats, wheels, and more. Put the cookies with the shapes on the baking sheet that has been prepared. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. On a wire rack, let the cookies cool all the way down. Once the cookies are cool, use white royal icing to make nautical designs on the edges and all over them. You can also add edible gold stars to make them sparkle even more. Wait for the royal icing to harden before you serve or package the cookies.
