Nautilus (2024)
The Company forced my father to betray his people. They murdered my wife. And they murdered my daughter. Destroying it has driven my every action. I helped Benoit build the Nautilus so I could use it to escape and recover the treasure, which I needed to fund my plan.

The plot:
Apparently there is a law in Australia that if you're making a kinda-sorta historical show based on famous classic literature you need Benedict Hardie in a bowler hat working for East India Company:
Nautilus is trying so bad to be Pirates of the Caribbean, down to the Only Technically Legally Distinct Score™️, the Elizabeth Swan character taken captive by pirates, Pintel & Ragetti-esque side character duo, and the same villains*. Like, on one hand, I’m glad to see someone trying to make a PotC successor in the absence of new PotC, but the series is at its best when it isn’t.
*the one thing I can say in favor of its PotC inspiration is that it takes the East India Trading Company’s Colonialism of real world peoples a little more seriously as actual Colonialism, and not just Big Bad Corporation destroying magic and antagonizing the rockstar non-conformist pirates
Whenever a character says- "We were best friends- no, we were more than that..."
My head pops up like a meerkat like "is something queer afoot? Pls 🙏"
But at the same time I'm bracing for the-
"We were like brothers/sisters/siblings"
