I'm incredibly sad that there won't be a new NCAA Football video game in the foreseeable future...I just hope they have a uniform update for Florida State at least
The Dude OMG Podcasters are back home for a Week 6 (game 5) matchup against 2014 NFL Draft hopeful Derek Carr and the 3-2 Fresno State Bulldogs. Dude OMG is 4-0 (2-0 at home) this year and put their perfect streak on the line after cracking the Top 25 (currently ranked #23 in the nation). Here’s how the game broke down:
1st Quarter
We marched down the field easy enough, but couldn’t punch it in. DudeOMG Caleb booted in a FG from 25 yards out. Derek Carr worked himself out of a 3rd and long and completed a long pass, but JGL knocked the ball out on the tackle and Randolphious scooped it up. The ensuing touchdown run by DudeOMG Will was AMAZING! Fresno State could NOT tackle him, and their lack of effort led to an 8-yard score! After 1 quarter, it’s 10-0, DudeOMG!
2nd Quarter
BTCSeven scores early in the 2nd quarter with a 16-yard strike from DudeOMG Cord. The next drive, Amanda Amanda picks off David Carr leading to a 1-yard TD from DudeOMG Will, his second of the game. Derek Carr then puts on a passing clinic, moving easily down the field, but they can’t punch it in, failing on 3 successive running plays. They settle for a 28-yard FG. With just one minute remaining in the 2nd quarter, the Podcasters get down the field to kick a 36-yard FG from DudeOMG Caleb, putting the Podcasters up 27-3 after the first half.
3rd Quarter
The 3rd quarter gets underway with the 2nd stringers getting in the game. The Bulldogs get the ball first, but can’t do anything with it, giving it back to Dude OMG. Matt Cinco-Tres has an easy 12-yard TD pass to Jennifer Gonzo85. On the next drive, a Fresno State fumble gives C Kaye an opportunity on defense for the recovery. Matt Cinco-Tres comes back into action and runs in an easy 2-yard option to put the podcasters up 40-3. DudeOMG Caleb’s 11th point (2 field goals and 5 extra points) giving DudeOMG a commanding 41-3 lead.
4th Quarter
Matt Cinco-Tres starts off the 4th quarter with an INT that’s nearly returned. The very next play, Derek Carr gives the ball back to us, and then some: Jennifer Gonzo85 scores her 2nd TD of the game, this time on defense, taking a 74-yard INT back to the house! DudeOMG Caleb continues with his kicking showcase by demolishing the ball on his second 55-yard FG of the young season. Jennifer Gonzo85 came to play and gets her 2nd INT of the game. Two plays later, C Kaye shows off with a 49-yard nail in the coffin! The Podcasters win the game by a final score of 58 to 3. We are now 5-0 and sure to move up the board after this convincing victory.
The Week 7 matchup has the DudeOMG Podcasters heading to Auburn, AL to play the 3-2 Auburn Tigers.

Comments:
Well, the season wasn't that bad. I was playing with custom playbook that featured primarily pistol/ace sets, with a few shotgun sets and some strong i-form sets. The playbook was meant to be versatile. I like running read options the closer I get to the goal line (this is where I threw the majority of my INTs), which is why my QB had so many rushing touchdowns.
Obviously, the numbers a bit ridiculous when compared to actual football, but that's the fun in NCAA, is being as ridiculous as possible (especially given how still horrible the line play is; infuriated me enough to just want to break the game at times). I did run up the score a good bit on some teams (hung nearly 90 on Akron), and did so with the backups as well, so I played as fair as possible. My defense, which I did not coach at all, was so bad, ranking in the bottom 5 in Pass Defense (the run defense was "better" only because teams were generally forced to throw in attempt to keep up with or catch my high-powered offense), that I practically dominated TOP because opposing offense would score within a minute. This gave my offense plenty of time to work, yes, but it really hurt in close games such as the opener against Wisconsin and the honest thriller against Kansas St, where I threw a game-ending INT with 30 seconds to go (heart breaker).
I had a lot of fun with this setup, although, some of the glitches did infuriate me. A number of times I got picked off, the receiver would bump into the defensive back, look as if he had beaten him on the go route, then "jump" about 5 yards inwards and stutters. By the time I see him beat his guy, I throw the ball, he glitches inwards, stutters, and my ball is no where near the receiver, allowing the corner to pick it off with ease. Others would be failed read-options where the running back would run into the QB during the hand off, canceling the exchange, and the QB would sit there for a moment, dumbfounded, before getting sacked.
I should also mention that I had almost 50 dropped passes. Two receivers (my leading receivers) both accounted for almost half (22) of the drops. My tight end, thankfully, dropped only 3 all season.
DB glitch was alive and well, and I would stray away from those "money" plays. Unfortunately, the glitch just happens at times, and I sail the ball for a bittersweet TD.
Overall, I had a fun season, and intend on playing simply OC more and more, probably at a different school ever year or 2 (I do not participate in recruiting for this reason alone). I definitely had heart-pounding moments, and blew through some games. I was hoping for a better finish and better bowl game, but I played the cards that were dealt to me. Onto year 2!
