Request; Can you do Jeno from NCT Dream? He likes a young girl from his school (one year younger) and he doesn't know how to show his true feelings so he teases her and pranks her? And one day he takes it too far and he tries to make it better? Lots of angst and fuff
The same dreadful feeling filled your gut as you made your way through the school doors, your eyes on wide alert for one specific being. You didn’t mind school really, you had average grades, good friends and almost everyone was kind to you. Almost everyone.
Lee Jeno, for some reason, has had it in for you since the moment you stepped foot into the school. Being one year older and relatively popular, you couldn’t really understand why someone like him, would feel the need to tease someone like you. What bothered you the most was the fact he was kind to everyone else. Everyone except you. Perhaps you were an easy target? Perhaps your anger egged him on?
You walked down the hall ways, heading to a little seating area, where you usually met up with your friends. As you walked, someone people smiled in your direction or said hello, to which you replied. You were almost there when you felt a tug on your school bag, pulling you back slightly, followed by an arm snaking its way around your shoulders.
“Well if it isn’t my favourite person! How did you get here? Did someone leave your cage open?”
Upon hearing that voice, your eyes naturally rolled and you groaned. All you wanted was one peaceful day. Was that too much to ask for? You turned around to look at him, and once you did, your heart beated a little faster. You couldn’t really help it, but Jeno and his friends were the most handsome boys in the school. His messy hair and dark eyes suited each other well, and he had a beautiful smile that sent your heard into overdrive. If he were friendly towards you, you definitely would have developed a crush on him.
“Lee Jeno. Lee Jeno’s friends.” Lee Jeno had quite a large group of friends. He surely had a lot of friends in school, yet his actual friendship group consisted of seven people – including him. Although a few of them were different ages, they were the best of friends.
Mark Lee was a transfer student from Canada, Zhong Chenle and Huang Renjun were from China and Na Jaemin, Lee Donghyuck, Park Jisung and Lee Jeno were all Korean. Their personalities varied, but they got along well together. The rest of his group were kind to you, flashing you smiles when you passed them.
His friends all murmured a hello in return and began talking amongst themselves.
“Haven’t you ever heard of a napkin?” He asked you, raising an eyebrow. You furrowed your eyebrows, wondering where he was going with this. Catching on to your confusion he pointed down at your shirt saying, “You have a stain. On your shirt. Did you know that?”
Your cheeks flushed as you peeked down, only to find he was telling the truth. Near the bottom of your shirt, slightly to the left was a rather large stain. What it came from, you had no idea.
“Can’t you just be nice and leave me alone? For once, Jeno?”
“Since you asked so nicely, I’ll leave you be.”
“Yeah. Besides, it’s ‘be kind to animal’s week.’”
With that, he laughed and walked away, his friends following. You scowled at his figure before walking on to meet your friends, with a sour look on your face.
The rest of the day went by smoothly. You were thankful that Jeno wasn’t the same age as you, otherwise you probably would have seen him a lot more. You spent lunch in the library as you had to do some research so you didn’t have to see his face then.
In your last class, Art, your teacher told you that tomorrow, seeing as there was a school outing for some grades, a few classes would be joined. She explained that in art tomorrow, an older class will be joining. Instead of teaching, we were being given the opportunity to work on our final pieces, and the motive for the classes conjoining was only so that the students could be supervised.
The final bell rang and you, along with friends, packed up your belongings and made your way out the door.
“Are you almost finished your art work for this year? I still have like, 3 pieces to do.” Taehee, a close friend of mine asked as we walked down the hall.
Have eight out of ten pieces finished, so I only have two left. I don’t really know what to create though, I’m struggling for my last two pieces.”
“What area did you choose again?”
“Culture. All my art work is based around cultures of the world.”
“That’s way better that nature. I’m struggling so much, and I cannot draw another leaf otherwise our teacher will kill me.”
We both chuckled and with that, we bid each other farewell and took off in different directions. I didn’t live beside any of my close friends, so I usually had to walk home alone. There was a bus that headed in that direction, but it wasn’t that far and walking wasn’t so bad.
“Hey, Y/N,” I heard the friendly voice of Na Jaemin come from behind me, and I turned with a smile which quickly dropped into a scowl due to the person coming walking beside him.
“Hi, Jaemin. How are you?”
“Ouch, ignoring my presence. That hurts, Y/N. How dare you?”
“If I was to acknowledge your presence, I would have to listen to your ignorance and stupidity, Jeno.
Ignoring you seems like the easy option.”
Jaemin snorted at this and Jeno rolled his eyes, both of them walking on each side of you. You and Jaemin made small talk about how both of your days went, whereas Jeno was eerily quiet for once. You didn’t pay any attention to him, until he grabbed you and spun you around fast. He began laughing and you realised he had opened the zipper to your school bag, and a ton of your books and pages were now lying on the ground.
“Jeno! Why can’t you just leave me alone?! You’re so infuriating!” You jumped to the ground and started lifting everything whilst Jeno laughed at what happened. Your pages were covered in dirt and the books pages were all messed up because of how they landed.
“That was brilliant, your face was gold,” He continued to laugh, wiping a tear that fell down his cheek. Jaemin was kind enough to help you lift your stuff, and you faced Jeno with a look of pure anger on your face.
“That was not brilliant, that was unfair and such a dick move! What if the ground was wet? What if I had some seriously important stuff in my bag? You’re such an ass, Jeno!” With that, you turned and walked down the street quickly towards your house. You hadn’t noticed that Jeno had stopped laughing and was actually beginning to feel guilty, as he and Jaemin turned down their street.
The next morning in school, you didn’t see much of Jeno as you arrived in school late. You were up until late last night doing research on different cultures and trying to finish your art work. Ten pieces were due in next week, and your whole class had the whole school year to choose a topic and create different paintings to hand in. You took all your artwork into the art class and set it out on the bench at the back of the classroom, so you had easy access to it when your art class rolled around.
Your morning dragged by quite slowly and you were happy to get into art class. It was right before lunch, and you loved this class. I wasn’t as stressful and you were allowed to play music and just paint. You walked into class and your eyes narrowed, as you caught sight of Jeno, Jaemin, Renjun and Donghyuck. At first you were confused as to why there were in there, you weren’t even sure if they done art. But then you remembered that students were out of school and classes with no teachers were joining another class, which meant they were joining your art class for the day. You groaned but made your way to the back bench, where you grabbed your art work and set it on the table.
You were determined to finish your work today, so you could spend the next week adding finishing touches and getting it all put together. You grabbed a cup of water and paint palettes, setting them down beside you.
“Y/N!” You heard his dreaded voice call your name over the class and he started making his way towards you, rather fast. Just before he got beside you, he lost his footing and crashed into the desk, making the water and some of the paint fall. All over your art work.
“Oops,” Jeno muttered under his breath.
At this point, you didn’t care what he said. Your shoulders slumped and you were furious. You could feel tears brim – tears from frustration, anger, every negative emotion filled your body as you glanced down at your perfect drawings which were now covered in water and unwanted colours.
“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?” You heard yourself shouting. You looked up at him furiously, to see surprise in your eyes, and a few other classmates were giving you curious glances. You could see his friends make their way over, their eyes landing on your ruined art work.
“Jeno…What did you do?” Renjun asked, his eyes wide.
“It was an accident! Besides, they weren’t THAT good anyway. She can just start again and make them even better!”
“No, Jeno,” You ssaid, your voice wobbling as more tears sprang to your eyes. “I can’t just start again and make them better. That’s the best I can do and this is due next week. It took me the whole year to do this! Do you know how stressful it was completing each of these? How many late nights I spent up drawing and painting? You insulted and destroyed my hard work. Did you do this on purpose? Do you hate me THAT much? I’m so sick of how you treat me, I did nothing to you and all you do is tease me and make me feel infuriated! Why do you do it? Why would you do this?”
Your voice began to raise near the end and you couldn’t help the tears that spilled over your eyes and fell as you spoke. By now the whole class was staring, but you didn’t care. You had enough of Jeno and his mistreatment and this was the final straw. Once you started crying, you couldn’t stop. All your work was ruined!
The teacher had walked in, and went to the back to see what the commotion was.
“What’s going on he...Oh no, what happened your work?!” That made you cry harder, and you excused yourself, asking if you could leave. With her permission, you took off towards the door and started down the hall. You heard your art teacher shout but you ignored it until you heard a voice calling your name. Jeno was running down the hall after you, carrying two pages.
“What could you possibly want now, Jeno? Are you going to laugh in my face? Tell me how bad my work was?”
“It was an accident. I swear, Y/N. You have to believe me.”
“Why should I? You hate me, you probably did it purposely!”
“God, I don’t hate you! I like you! When I first saw you, you looked so beautiful and cute and you were kind, and you made me feel all weird inside and I developed feelings for you! I didn’t know how to approach you nor how to deal with all these feelings building up, so I took Donghyuck’s stupid advice, which was to tease you. I know it sounds stupid, even saying it makes me feel stupid but…” he lowered his voice before continuing. “I really do like you, and I promise this was an accident. Your work isn’t bad either, it’s amazing. Which reminds me, these two pieces aren’t ruined!” He held up an elephant you drew, and a blossom tree, to represent Thailand and Korea. “And, I’m not the best at art, but I’m okay I guess. I can help you. My friends can too!”
You blinked in surprise for a few moments and tried to take everything in. Jeno liked you. Teasing you was Donghyuck’s idea. Two pages were okay. Jeno was going to help you with your work. Despite your anger, you felt your heart grow a little warm at everything he said.
At this be blushed nodding his head and sheepishly smiling.
“Y-yeah, I do. I’ve been a bit of an ass, but maybe I can help you with your work and show you what I’m really like? Then you can decide if you want to like me back.”
He held his hand out, for you to take. You hesitated before giving him a small smile and whispering, “Okay,” before reaching out and taking hold of his hand. He gave you a grin and you both walked back towards the classroom.
He ended up helping you a ton, with each piece and within the week, you were finished. He became friendly, and walked home with you and walked you to school. You met up a few times outside of school and he would even buy you chocolate or pick you a small flower.
Maybe you could grow to like this side of Jeno.
