straight up copypasted from discord but. i'm annoyed w the "latino isn't a race" thing- like yeah of course it isn't, it's more akin to a nationality yeah i get it but at the same time when someone says they're latino it often does mean something related to ethnicity, there's lots of native communities that were anahilated by, mixed, and assimilated with spanish ppl to the point where the GRAND majority of people who live here know they've got some mix, that they're an ethicity separate from white, black, asian, indian, etc, but not exactly from who or where and to what extent, so the only claim to ethnicity they have is latino.

i know like my great great grandparents on my mom's father's side were probably purely american since i asked my grandparents and they remembered, but i can never claim to it since at this point it's all lost in the soup. i can't know if i'm like half black, three teaspoons of charrúa, 5% white, two kg of some other thing. i can only ever be sure i'm half black and latina, yk?
