NDHQTASK07- DANI HARPER’S NEGATIVE TRAITS;

SECRETIVE

All her life, Dani hasn’t been the best at fully opening up about stuff in her life. Chalk it up to her feeling silly, or ashamed, or stupid but she tends to bottle up her secrets and disclose a lot of information about herself. Half of it is due to reopening wounds she’d rather not think about if she doesn’t have to, but the other half is the worry of how people might look at her differently. So, she chooses to hide chunks of herself and gloss over things to avoid talking about her past and current fuck ups, which she assumes in her head is for the greater good of everyone around her, never wanting people to worry about her problems.

IMPATIENT

She’s never been one who was good at waiting, even if she doesn’t say anything out loud, it shows in small body language tells. Tapping her foot, her fingers, popping her gum, mostly if she’s nervous and waiting. Even waiting in lines drives her crazy, traffic makes her want to scream, because she just hates wasting her time when she could already be doing what she was intending. It can come off a bit bratty at times, which she will entirely own up to, but it’s something she’s never been able to get over. Lately, she’ll try and distract herself with her phone or music in her car, but she still hates it.

JEALOUS

As much as she hates to admit it, Dani has always had a jealous side. Whether it be her friends, family, or relationships, she can’t help but turn green deep down. She isn’t sure why it overcomes her at times, especially if the said person isn’t her person to begin with, but the thought of someone touching or having what she’s already deemed to be a part of her life can make her spiral deep down. Much like her other traits, she’s good at masking this trait with jokes, even if behind the jokes there’s the smallest bit of truth. It’s gotten her into trouble before, assuming that her jealousy comes with good reason when it doesn’t, and she constantly tries to push it away if she can.

NDHQTASK07 - DANI HARPER’S POSITIVE TRAITS;

COMPASSIONATE:

Dani has always had a big heart, even when she was younger, she would always make sure other’s were okay before herself. On the playground, if someone didn’t have toys or was isolated, Dani made sure to go out of her way to make them feel appreciated. She tends to always check on others before checking on herself, never wanting any of her friends or people she cares for to feel bad or upset. Always down to be the one to lean on in low times, she’s always been the type of person to open her home and her heart to take on whatever problems her friends or close ones may be going through.

HARD WORKING

After being knocked down so many times in her past, with her life style choices, the music industry, her father, Dani has learned how to pick herself up and keep working towards her goals. No is a motivator for her, only making her want to work harder to get whatever she is chasing. It shows in her work, and the time she takes when planning out how to reach her goals. Every day she tries to take steps to get what she wants, mingling with the right people and making connections that could help her out in the long run.

CHARMING

It wasn’t until she learned how to be confident in her own that she managed to pick up this trait. When she was younger, she wasn’t too comfortable with her body and that in return made her a bit closed off. But when she turned seventeen, she noticed that the switch in her attitude and the way she talked to people without any type of insecurity lingering in the back of her mind was....exciting. It only sky rocketed when she began working at Hooters, charm was needed to get anywhere, and her coworkers influenced her in more ways than she knew. Now, she uses her charm and charisma to her advantage and enjoys meeting new people and making connections with them.

#NDHQTASK07 ► TRAITS.

- 3 NEGATIVE TRAITS.

FLIGHTY.

CeCe has a habit of disappearing when something doesn’t sit well with her, and that doesn’t necessarily just mean in a physical sense. While she doesn’t exactly like conflict, she has always been a fighter, and in her younger years she definitely got into more verbal and physical fights than she can count, but especially nowadays she likes to consider herself something of a pacifist. Her way of dealing with issues is to simply bounce, pretend like they don’t exist. Whether that means physically walking away from a situation, or getting herself so drunk that she doesn’t have to acknowledge it anymore, it doesn’t matter. If something’s going down and she isn’t comfortable with it (unless it involves someone doing something wrong to her sister, in which case she’ll always fight) CeCe is a flight risk.

MISCHIEVOUS.

Although it’s never intended to be dangerous, and usually comes from a place of humor, CeCe is definitely pretty mischievous, always having been the type to pull pranks and find them hilarious, even when they’re probably not so funny. She had a reputation on Just Tattoo of Us for being a prankster, and would always hide things from her coworkers and then giggle from the sidelines as she watched them frantically looking around for whatever they’d “lost,” and during that dumb lab class where everyone had to dissect frogs, CeCe gathered all of the dead frogs together and dumped them on her teacher’s desk in protest. Generally, though, CeCe’s mischievous side is harmless, if not a little annoying, but she has never hurt anybody with it. So far.

SELF-DESTRUCTIVE.

When things are going well for CeCe, she likes to think that she can appreciate them. And in fact, she can. But considering her father abandoned her, and her ex-wife cheated on her, the idea of something going wrong is always in the back of her mind, and CeCe is very self-destructive in the sense that she’d rather mess herself up than have someone mess her up again. Lately, her way of doing so is by drowning her sorrows, even ones that she’s imagined up in her head, with alcohol - Not a good idea, considering her past with the stuff. It’s kind of dangerous in more than just that way, though, because when CeCe self-destructs, she withdraws, and she won’t let people see just how bad things have gotten. She’s good at putting up a front, and will act like everything is fine. Then she’ll make herself suffer when she’s alone, with nobody any the wiser.

#NDHQTASK07 ► TRAITS.

+ 3 POSITIVE TRAITS.

FRIENDLY.

Being friendly has served CeCe well in the way of not only the obvious making friends, but it has helped her to get as far as she has in life, too. As a child, CeCe was always surrounded by friends. She was popular, and opportunities presented themselves to her because of her social standing. When she moved to Dallas, CeCe’s friendly nature meant that she settled in easily, because she was never treated like “the new girl” and was never alone. She made friends for life during her very first day at her new school. When it came time to apply for jobs, most prominently her job at her first tattoo studio, CeCe was noted as the best candidate because not only was she great in her work, but she was also friendly, which is important in such a customer based job. In the same area, CeCe landed her spot on Just Tattoo of Us because of how friendly and cheerful she was during her interview. She feels she has also slipped into her job at NDHQ easily because she has always been friendly with the other stars, too.

OPTIMISTIC.

CeCe has always been a very optimistic person, always choosing to see the good in people and situations rather than the bad, because if she looked on the more negative side of things, she’s scared that she’d start to change her outlook on the world. Especially lately, something that has kept CeCe afloat is her optimism, and she knows that if she didn’t have it, she would’ve hit rock bottom already. CeCe’s optimistic nature is what got her through her divorce, with her considering it positive that her ex-wife showed her true colors when she did, rather than later on down the line when they had a long marriage and kids attached to them. She could’ve very well sunk into a dark place, and who knows where she’d be right now if that had been the case?

UNDERSTANDING.

Being as understanding as she is is why CeCe still clings to any kind of hope of a relationship with her father. When she was only twelve years old and had to deal with him drunk and acting recklessly around her, it always scared her, but she tried to understand that it wasn’t him talking, it was the drink. She would later find out he had his own battles with mental illness going on, which made CeCe even more understanding. He doesn’t speak to her now, since he doesn’t agree with her sexuality, but CeCe understands that his beliefs are his beliefs, and as much as she wishes she could change them, she can’t. Regardless of his backward way of thinking or the unacceptable way he has always acted around her, he’s still her father, and CeCe not only loves him but would also accept him back into her life without question.

3 POSITIVE TRAITS:

► COM·PAS·SION·ATE      ↳ feeling or showing sympathy and concern for others.

Sam has always been empathetic to others. He likes knowing details about people, either from things they’ve shared with him, or what he’s managed to pick up in interactions. It’s usually easy for him to make friends, because of his genuinely friendly disposition and ability to make people feel at ease around him.  While he jokes about his short attention span, he’s very observant when it matters. It typically involves him finding any kind of way to connect with other people in a conversation, bad puns or terrible jokes, pop culture references, whatever it takes to get someone talking about something they’re interested in. However , it’s often difficult for him to express his own feelings, or reflect that compassionate nature inward.

► CRE·A·TIVE     ↳ relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas.

Beyond the scope of his artistic ability, Sam has an uncanny talent in making something out of nothing. He doesn’t consider himself rigid, open to exploring  ideas and looking at things from different viewpoints. Growing up on his family’s farm, imagination was essential. Plenty of summers were spent making up new games and finding inventive ways to get in and out of trouble with his brother and friends. He enjoys adventures, ones that start off seemingly small but end up meaningful and fun, and he’s usually the first one to suggest an idea, most likely due to his inability to sit still. The world was meant to be explored, and he is always up for finding new things to get into.

His father instilled in him the values of loyalty at a young age. Being a nice person wasn’t enough if people couldn’t trust that you’d be there when things weren’t always good, and Sam lives by that kind of advice, in dealing with his family and other interactions. While trusting others is sometimes difficult for him, with the guards he has up, he’s still able to recognize the importance in earning someone else’s. He goes hard for the important people in his life, like his brother, and close friends.

Because of his friendly and outgoing appearance, it’d be difficult to picture Sam as anything but an open book. And that’s exactly how he prefers it. Sam isn’t always the best with expressing how he feels. He uses humor and flirtation to distract and disarm, to give people the impression of knowing  without revealing much of anything outside of a few facts here and there, and certainly not feelings. It’s something he learned at young age,  preferring to keep his emotions close to his chest, where they’re hardly expressed unless in extreme outbursts, mostly in frustration.

‘Slow down’ was something Sam heard all too often growing up. Whether it was running too fast through the house, reading too quickly, talking at a rapid pace, or being the first one to clear his plate at the table. He was always barreling headlong into something or other. Sometimes, it paid off. Being the fastest on the field led him to victory in baseball and the promise of a successful career. Sometimes, in the case of reading so quickly to sort out the jumble that words had become thanks to his dyslexia, it did not. He’s always operated on a ‘act first, think fast, later’ mentality. On the outside, it would seem to stem from a fun-loving personality and there is truth to that, but looking deeper beyond the surface, it’s the act of quiet long-stemming insecurity. Because despite caring deeply about the important people in his life, it’s difficult for Sam to direct that compassion to himself, which leads to snap decisions and sometimes, ridiculous choices.

Quitting baseball altogether was probably not the best idea he’s had. There would have been other opportunities, other chances to impress scouts or work harder. One bad game and one small panic attack shouldn’t define an entire future, but that was par for the course for Sam. Giving up chances to work in the art world after a lack of serious offers, too. A procrastinator with a small perfectionist’s streak. Competitiveness and fear are a potent mix, leading to choices that lack a whole lot of sense. Fear of being broke, coupled with his desire to be seen and appreciated led him into stripping. Fear of staying in Fort Worth and doing the exact same thing with the same people spurred his decision to leave and head to California. Impracticality paired with recklessness has played a major part in Sam’s decision making, whether they were good ideas or not.
