I'm in awe 😍 @Regrann_App from @remains2beseen - The skulls in the ossuary of the 15th century Neamt Monastery, a Romanian Orthodox religious settlement and one of the oldest and most important of its kind in the country. Some of the skulls in the ossuary are painted with a small portrait of the person the skull belonged to during life. Others simply bear little texts stating the names and dates of the monks’ birth and death. They remind me of the ones in the ossuary or ‘beinhaus’ (boneshouse) in Hallstatt, Austria, which I’ve posted about before. So beautiful! I’ve seen some ossuaries in real life, such as the one in Sedlec, Prague, but never this one.
