#neck mod

He still needs pants and painting but I didn't get around to it yet since I wanted to make the head work first. ANYHOW. I wanted to share some pictures of my first ever neck mod!

The right picture, on the left, you see how it looked without mods. The tungsten head has a neck circumference of 5.5cm according to the creator's display post. I thought the body was around 6cm but it actually ended up more close to 6.5-7cm!

I could put it on but it just sat up there super high and could barely move. I knew I'd have to try my hand at this kind of mod because the body head combo is perfect to me. So I took out the dremel and went at it!

This gives me a lot of hope for the much bigger doll with a much smaller neck difference. And I also can say - it wasn't nearly as scary as I thought. Just take precautions for the dust and go slow with the tool ;U;

In between sealant layers on Ciero, I started Gin's neck mod. I am going to need to sand down quite a bit, and open up his neck hole, but the body is so perfect. I removed about a quarter inch slice, then took the little bead in his neck, and epoxied it inside. I probably could have just filled in with epoxy, but I figured I'd save myself some material. (Exercise in futility; I threw out most of the piece I mixed up. I have such a love-hate relationship with JB Waterweld) Gin Evngray is a Doll Chateau Bella on a Fairyland Motion-Line boy body.

Here’s the finished face up on the Nobility Doll MNM Bill Kaulitz head that I color matched to Loongsoul normal pink. He’s meant to be the twin brother though, Tom. 

His body is a Loongsoul 75cm man body that needs some more work too. So far I’ve modded the neck smaller from 13cm to 10.5cm to make the head fit. You can see the fit and mobility test under the face up.

Anyway, work that was done on the head is as follows:

Eye reshaping mod

Gaged ear mods

Color match from a very yellow normal skin to Loongsoul normal pink

Face up

Applied eyelashes and lip piercing

It took me days to figure out how to color match him since I don’t use an airbrush. I finally used some primer for table top miniatures in white and then blushed him pink afterwards. I sealed of course before and after priming. I tested it on some spare resin parts first to see if I can remove it again, and I could so I deemed it safe.

I know you can’t see much on the neck pictures, but well, that’s the point. ;) Have some properly sanded down resin.

Did a neck mod for someone from the german BJD community. Plan was to make a MaskCat Fey head (~9cm neck) fit on a Luts Delf body (~10cm neck). Opened up the neck hole in the head a bit to get the neck size to 9,5cm and sanded down the neck to fit the head - plus made the whole neck shorter. now thy both fit rather nice.
