I didn't realize that was Gonza in Zeiram (movie owns bones, find the Blu-ray the restoration is so gorgeous), then i took huge psychic damage from looking at a bunch of other titles in Yukijiro Hotaru's filmography.

Back during the early days of my group Garo watch I googled Yujikiro and found out exactly what you did in basically the same way! Honestly, good for him, and it tracks with Garo's record of adult/pink film actors! Also it is very fun to call him 'The Rope Detective'.

Also I'm tremendously weak to gore but also obsessed with practical effects work, so Zeiram is top of the list, but for when I finally summon the bravery.

she directed every season finale during the twelfth doctor's run, plus his regeneration episode, and i'd say they're all modern classics

as someone who also wasn't too keen on the eleventh doctor's run (i've softened on it over the years and enjoy more bits of it than when it aired but it's still lower on my list), i think twelve's era was a real breath of fresh air. it's still moffat, but i think he used all his big earth-shattering "[blank] of the doctor" ideas with eleven, so twelve's story is much more personal and stripped down, to the benefit of the show and the character imo. there's still people who didn't vibe with it, but i loved all three seasons and i think they're worth checking out if you fell off before that
