I kinda wanna ask if you have any headcanons on skeletal creatures and necrobotany now. But please take your time and do this at your own pace, burnout sucks and is no fun.
Oh thank you, hun! Here’s some headcanons for you! :)
-They often have their brittle/missing/broken bones replaced with vines and sturdy stems to help them move around easier. This distinguishes them from other skeleton warriors.
-Those who were raised by desert-dwelling necrobotanists are usually wrapped in thorny cacti, enriched with water from oases. It’s safe to drink but you’d have to be particularly kind to their master to save yourself from dehydration.
-Those raised in jungles are covered in moss, flowers, and leaves to help them blend in with their environment and minimize their rattling noises. They often wield bows with arrows and maces/clubs coated in poison-dart frog venom.
-In tundra environments, skeletons keep themselves together with the stiff pine leaves, covered in snow. Sometimes they’ll wear fur pelts to make themselves look human. They’ll use icicles as darts and whatever weapons they might’ve had when they were alive.
-No matter the region, they all serve their master and, in turn, the necrobotanist rewards them with beautiful plants and shiny jewelry. Whoever has the most decorations is the highest rank in their legion.
-They may be gifted plant magic of their own and become a lich, commanding the other skeletons in place of their real master.
-Lichs have much higher intellect, sometimes exceeding the intelligence they had when they were alive.
-They distinguish themselves from other necromancers by wrapping vines around their cloaks, usually in the form of a belt.
-Usually the more experienced ones wear white cloaks instead of black ones, which may come as a surprise to anyone who spectates them raising a skeleton.
-For the most part they don’t go to graveyards to find skeletons to awaken. Instead they’ll go deep into forests and can sense the bones buried in the ground.
-Some necrobotanists may have a flower growing in place of their eye as consequence of meddling with Mother Nature’s cycle of life and death. Not even plants are exempt from her laws.
-Some keep their dying plants healthy but in their withered state, just because there’s something quite beautiful about them in that form.
-Despite the stigma surrounding them, they aren’t all evil. A lot of them are gentle souls who simply believe people take Earth’s flora for granted.
-They’re also fairly kind to their servants (skeletons), treating them well and bestowing flower decorations upon the most loyal ones.
-Overall they just love their undead friends, be it human or animal skeletons, so they ensure they have enough plant material to move around and be confident in themselves.
