“3D necroprinting” is a real lab idea where scientists used the tiny feeding tube of a dead mosquito as a 3D printer nozzle. It sounds cursed, but it worked. The mosquito mouthpart helped print super-thin bio-ink lines, even finer than some commercial micro-printer tips.

Robot concept based on necrobiotics, specifically those Rice University experiments in using a dead spider as a mechanical gripper.

　コモリグモという仲間のクモを低温で「安楽死」させ、死体の胴体に針を刺して固定。体内に注いだ液体の圧力を注射器で変化させることで、8本の脚を開閉させ、ものをつかむための器具として活用する方法を発明した。

　クモの死体はプラスチックなどとは違い、自然の中で分解される「生分解性材料」。このため環境に優しい技術だというのがセールスポイントの一つだ。

　「死」を意味する「ネクロ（necro）」という言葉と、「ロボティクス」を組み合わせた「ネクロボティクス（Necrobotics）」という新技術の開発に踏み出す第一歩だという。研究チームは「我々の祖先は（死体の）骨を道具として使ったり、毛皮を衣服にしたりしてきた。だが、生き物の死体を丸ごと動的なロボット部品にしたのは、これが初だろう」と誇っている。
