The longer thing I’m working on is taking a while so here’s a thing that took like barely any time.
Also did I subconsciously steal this joke from somewhere? It felt too easy, like I didn’t earn it.

side mirror on my car: “objects in mirror are closer than they appear”
me, nearsighted (don’t have glasses yet): “yeah, just like my vision”

Oooh, thank you!
11. What do they hide from one another?
Eggsy is afraid of showing fear. He’d learned, way too young, that showing fear was a sure path to a beat down or worse. He’d be destroyed if he should Dean any kind of fear - Dean would use it against him in the worst possible way.
So, as a Kingsman, Eggsy’s built up a facade - he’s fearless and reckless and takes too many risks to get the job done. In a way, he’s continuing the legend of Galahad, doing his mentor proud. But he’s breaking apart from the stress. He comes back from missions beaten bloody and with a happy smile on his face, never once admitting that something is too much, that he’s traumatized by what he’s done and what he’s seen. He’s going to break unless there’s an intervention.
Merlin has a similar problem - he sees what his agents see and he processes it in silence. Kingsman and the knights need to know that their Merlin is invulnerable, but he isn’t. He’s tried therapy, but can’t reconcile the need to keep everything secret with a therapist’s vow of confidentiality, so he never goes beyond the first appointment, even though the therapist is a Kingsman hire.
So Merlin and Eggsy each pretend they are at the pinnacle of mental health, but are heartbeats away from complete breakdowns.
12. What first changes when it starts getting serious?
Merlin is something of a manwhore. He goes out on the pull a few nights a month and never goes home alone. He goes on vacation and gets more sex than a Trafalgar Square pigeon. But as soon as he gets together with Eggsy, all the extracurriculars stop, even though there’s no discussion about monogamy and Eggsy’s still doing honeypots and is often on mission for months at a time.
Merlin’s made a commitment in his head and this is how he honors it.
13. When do they realise they should get together?
Eggsy comes back from a nine-month mission and Merlin all but nails him in the airplane hanger at HQ. When Eggsy says “miss me much?” Merlin replies that he hasn’t gone without sex this long since he was sixteen.
Eggsy’s appalled and delighted. He’s demi and rarely can get it up without an emotional commitment of some kind (witness the epic failure with Princess Tilde).
I think there’s a story here, no?
EDIT - You asked for Merlahad. I wrote answers for Merwin. Will you forgive me? Apparently, I’ve forgotten how to read.
Me, waking up on January 1st, 2020, still unable to see clearly.
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE 😅👀
Played the piano for about two hours today, mostly this arduous Bach piece and didn’t realize until now how much I slump. Was lying here for a minute wondering why my upper back is aching so hard
