info/warnings: this was TOO long for me to proofread but i hope its all okay :), fem!reader, kisses, jealousy, prank wars, FLUUUUUUUFFYYYYYY
summary: as reader is an influencer, she’s obviously seen the “couple trends/pranks” so why not do some with joe?
i did 7 different scenes/trends for this :) since there are a lot you can 100% set them wherever and whenever you like :)
wc: over 10k!
(the pictures are just how reader + joe would be feeling in the different scenarios haha)
1. “we listen and we don’t judge”
it’s one of those nights where the city hums faintly outside, rain tapping softly against the windows, mixing with the subtle hiss of your heater. the couch cushions are warm from joe sitting there, legs tucked under him, hair soft and falling across his eyes, gray sweats and a black tee clinging gently to the curve of his shoulders. your apartment smells faintly like vanilla and old books.
you prop the phone on a stack of hardcover novels, making sure the lens captures both of you comfortably. “why do you look like you’re about to ruin my life” joe says, one eyebrow raised. “i’m not” you grin. “you are” he insists, lips twitching. “it’s a vulnerability trend” you whisper, trying not to laugh.
the audio starts softly: we listen and we don’t judge.
you turn toward him: “we listen” “and we don’t judge” joe echoes, voice slightly softer than normal.
you lean in, fiddling with your hoodie string: “sometimes, when you leave your hoodies here, i spray them with my perfume before you take them back” his eyes widen slightly. “…why?”
“so when you’re in another city, you think about me” joe exhales slowly, the sound almost a sigh, jaw flexing. “hmm okay..” he mutters, and you can feel the warmth of him leaning slightly closer.
“we listen and we don’t judge” you finish, voice soft. he swallows audibly. “okay… my turn” he shifts, elbows on knees, hands loosely clasped. “…sometimes, when you fall asleep first, i scroll through pictures of you” “like… recent ones?” you ask cautiously. “…i have a folder” he admits quietly, eyes not leaving yours. “a folder?”
“organized… by year” your heart stumbles. “…joe”
“helps when i’m in a hotel room” he says softly, brushing back a strand of his hair, the movement almost nervous. you whisper, “…we listen” “and we don’t judge” he finishes, voice barely audible now.
later, the comments explode:
@fool: organized by year?????
@halflifee: this man is deeply in love
@listen: watching her breathe i’m unwell
@flashmountainnn: they look so safe together
joe reads “deeply in love” twice. “…they’re dramatic” he mutters. but you catch the tiny, proud smile on his face.
2. “we’re a couple, of course we…”
you’re in the kitchen, warm light spilling across the countertops. the air smells faintly like roasted coffee, a mug still steaming beside the sink. joe leans against the counter, casual but alert, black tee slightly wrinkled, hair tousled from rehearsal.
“we’re a celebrity x influencer couple” you begin. “of course she soft launched me with my hand” joe jokes immediately, glancing at you. “distinctive jewellery”
“half of it is yours” you reply, smirking.
cut.
“of course he pretends not to read comments”
“i don’t…”
“deep dive, joe”
“…research” he mutters, brushing hair from his forehead. you both sit cross legged on the kitchen floor, leaning back against the cabinets. soft golden light spills over your legs, highlighting the curve of your jeans, the soft texture of the rug under you.
“we’re a celebrity couple” joe says, tone quiet now. “…we could go out every night, but we’d rather be here”
comments:
@mortalprojections: why is this so grounded
@ring: he looks calmer here than at premieres
@bnbg: the way he said he’d rather watch her
@glooooomm: this feels real
joe reads the last one, tilting his head thoughtfully. “…it is” he whispers.
3. “who’s more likely to…”
bedroom rug, evening. back to back. the night air drifts in through a slightly open window, brushing your bare arms. joe’s shoulder presses warm and steady against yours, rising and falling with each breath.
“who’s more likely to cry during a movie” you both point at him. “traitor” he mutters. “you cried during that dog food commercial”
“it was emotional” you giggle. “thirty seconds long” he shrugs, playful but soft. “…enough time to form an attachment”
next question: “who’s more likely to fall in love first” you point at him instinctively. he points at himself too. “…really?”
“yeah. first week”
“…first week?”
“you stole my fries and didn’t apologise” you remind him. he exhales. “…that did it”
comments:
@whoyouaree: FIRST WEEK???
@link: he fell first
@basicbeingbasic: she looks like she’s about to cry
@fly: this is so gentle
joe reads “gentle” twice.
4. “joe reacting to my celebrity crushes”
you’re already grinning when you set up the camera. joe notices immediately.
“why are you smiling like that”
“it’s just a trend”
“that’s not comforting”
you sit cross-legged on the rug while joe leans back against the couch behind you, arms folded. cautious “okay” you say to the camera. “today we’re showing joe my celebrity crushes”
joe’s head snaps down toward you.
“your what”
“relax”
“no”
you hold up your phone with the first photo, a dramatically edited picture of a famous actor. joe squints.
“…he looks dehydrated” you burst out laughing.
“what”
“he does. look at his jawline. that’s not natural”
“joe”
“i’m just saying”
you swipe to the next one: a singer mid performance. joe leans forward slightly.
“why is he holding the mic like that”
“like what”
“like he’s trying too hard”
you turn around to look at him. “you’re jealous”
“i’m not jealous”
“you are”
“i’m observant” you grin and swipe again, this time someone known for being charming in interviews. joe goes quiet.
“oh no” you say. “this one’s dangerous” he studies the screen longer than the others. “…he seems nice” joe says carefully. you raise an eyebrow.
“that’s it?”
“yeah.”
“no insult?”
joe shrugs. “he seems like the type you’d like”
the teasing edge has dulled. you lower the phone slightly. “joe”
“what?”
“you’re not actually threatened, are you”
he looks at you then. not the camera. “no” he says. but his jaw is tighter than before. you shift positions, turning fully to face him now. the trend half forgotten.
“hey”
he exhales slowly. “i don’t like the idea of you looking at someone else the way you look at me”
your chest softens instantly. “i don’t” you say.
“i know it’s dumb” joe continues. “they’re strangers. but still” you reach up and take his hands, unfolding his arms. “look at me” he does. “they’re pretty” you admit. “but they don’t make me feel safe” joe’s shoulders drop slightly. “they don’t make me laugh when i’m spiralling” you continue. “or hold my hand under tables. or memorise the books i’m into”
a faint smile tugs at his mouth. he leans down and kisses you, not rushed. not possessive. just steady and certain. when you finally glance at the camera again, you realize it’s been recording the entire thing.
you post it anyway.
comments flood in:
@tryme: oh he was jealous jealous
@purgatorysilverstarr: not him analyzing the mic grip
@deleteya: the shift when he said he doesn’t like the idea of her looking at someone else
@charliesgarden: that kiss was reassurance
@gaptoothsmile: this is so healthy it hurts
joe reads that last one.
“…i just don’t like sharing” he mutters. you smile.
“good” you say.
5.“joe reading thirst trap comments about you”
you’re already smirking when you set up the camera. joe notices instantly. “why are you smiling like that” “because today” you say sweetly, “you’re reading comments about me” his eyes narrow. “what kind of comments”
“the internet kind” he sighs. “this feels dangerous”
you sit cross-legged on the couch while joe sits beside you, one arm draped over the backrest behind you. you hold up your phone.
“okay. first one” you clear your throat dramatically.
‘the way she wore that dress??? respectfully, i would risk it all’
joe’s jaw tightens slightly. “…risk what”
“unspecified”
“for what purpose”
you grin. “next one”
‘if joe ever messes up, i volunteer’
joe blinks slowly. “volunteer for what.”
“to date me” he scoffs lightly but there’s a faint edge there now. “generous of them” you continue.
‘she’s actually unreal’
“she’s actually sitting right here” joe mutters.
‘the way she looked at him in that clip??? i’m jealous’
joe glances at you. “they’re jealous?”
“apparently” there’s a pause. “okay” you say, scrolling further. “this one’s bold” you read it aloud.
‘respectfully, joe is stronger than me’
joe goes quiet. “stronger how?” he asks. you bite back a smile. “self-control” he stares at you for a second. then reaches over and takes your phone gently out of your hand, locking the screen. “okay”
“okay?”
“yeah”
he turns slightly toward you, hand sliding to your waist. “they can comment” joe says calmly. “they can thirst” your heart starts racing.
“but they don’t get this”
his thumb traces a slow line along your hip. “they don’t get to touch you” your breath catches. “and they definitely don’t make you blush like that” you hadn’t realized you were. you laugh nervously. “jealous?”
“possessive” he corrects quietly.
you post the video anyway.
the comments are feral:
@figureyouout: NOT HIM LOCKING HER PHONE
@goforit: the shift when he said “they don’t get to touch you”
@uglyfisherman: his is so controlled but intense
@awake: he was calm jealous and that’s worse
joe reads that last one and exhales slowly.
“…calm is better,” he says.
you lean into him.“yeah,” you whisper.
it is.
6. “telling my boyfriend i think we should break up” trend
you almost don’t do it.
the phone feels heavier than usual in your hand as you prop it up on the bookshelf in the living room. you angle it carefully so it captures the couch, the soft lamp light, the quiet comfort of the room. everything looks normal. that’s what makes it worse.
joe is in the kitchen, humming faintly while pouring himself a glass of water. he’s barefoot, hair messy from a shower earlier, wearing your oversized hoodie instead of his own. your stomach twists. this is stupid, you tell yourself. it’s just a trend. everyone does it.
but joe isn’t everyone.
he walks into the living room, drying his hands on the hem of the hoodie. “why do you look nervous” he asks immediately.
you weren’t expecting him to notice that fast. “i’m not”
“you are” he sits beside you on the couch, close enough that your thighs press together. automatically, instinctively, his hand rests on your knee. that nearly breaks you before you even start. “joe” you say softly.
he goes still at your tone. “what”
you swallow. “i’ve been thinking” his hand tightens slightly. “about?” you force yourself to look at him. “about us”
his expression shifts. not dramatic. not angry. just alert. “okay” he says carefully.
“i just… i don’t know if this is working” the silence after that sentence is suffocating. joe doesn’t pull away. doesn’t interrupt. he just watches you like he’s trying to read something invisible behind your eyes.
“what’s not working” he asks quietly. your chest aches. “maybe we’re just in different places”
he shakes his head faintly, confused. “different how?” you can see him trying to stay calm. trying to be steady instead of reactive. “if i did something” he continues gently, “tell me”
you look down at your hands. “it’s not one thing” that’s when his hand leaves your knee. not abruptly. just slowly. like he doesn’t know if he’s still allowed to touch you. the distance is immediate and unbearable.
“are you unhappy..?” joe asks. his voice is lower now. you hesitate too long. and that’s what undoes him. his jaw tightens.
“i thought we were okay” he says, more to himself than to you. you can see the thoughts flickering behind his eyes, he’s replaying moments, searching for signs.
“was this recent?” he asks. “or have you been feeling like this for a while” you weren’t prepared for that question. “joe-” “i need to know” he says, still calm. painfully calm. “because if i missed something, i want to fix it” your throat closes.
he leans forward slightly, elbows on his knees now, staring at the floor. “don’t just decide for both of us” he says softly. “talk to me” you can hear the smallest fracture in his voice. that’s when you break. “it’s a prank..” you blurt out.
the room goes completely still. joe looks up slowly. “…what” “it’s a trend” you say quickly, scrambling for his hands. “pretending to break up to see the reaction” he stares at you like he doesn’t recognize you for a second. not angry.
just… hurt.
“you were filming” he says flatly. you nod weakly. he glances toward the bookshelf. he doesn’t yell. he doesn’t snap. he just leans back into the couch and exhales.“that wasn’t funny” he says quietly. “i know baby. i’m sorry. i thought-“
“you thought i’d what? laugh?” your eyes fill immediately. “i didn’t think it would hit like that” joe rubs a hand over his face. “i don’t joke about losing you”
that sentence lands heavy.
you climb into his lap without thinking, wrapping your arms around his neck. “i’m sorry” you whisper into his shoulder. “i didn’t mean it. not even a little”
he hesitates for half a second. then his arms wrap around you tightly. almost desperately. “don’t do that again” he murmurs into your hair. “i won’t” he pulls back slightly, searching your face.
“are we okay?” your heart cracks. “of course we are” he presses his forehead to yours, eyes closing briefly like he needs the contact to ground himself.
you end the recording. you almost don’t post it.
but you do. with context in the caption.
the comments are immediate and intense:
@goldenline: i actually felt sick watching this
@crux: his tone when he said “are you unhappy”
@mrmountebank: he didn’t get defensive, he tried to fix it
@potion: that man was ready to fight for her
@trexisloud: please never scare him like that again
joe reads the comments quietly later. he doesn’t say much. just pulls you closer that night in bed. his arm stays wrapped around your waist even in his sleep. like he’s making sure you’re still there.
7. “ignoring my girlfriend after she fake broke up with me” (joe pranking reader)
the video doesn’t start with you. it starts with joe.
the camera is clearly handheld, angled slightly too low like he’s not used to filming alone. the lighting is dim. early evening, golden hour just fading through the apartment windows. he runs a hand through his hair and exhales. “okay” he says quietly to the camera. “so apparently we do pranks now” he glances off screen toward the living room, where you’re humming faintly to yourself. his jaw tightens slightly.“she fake broke up with me last week” he gives a small, humorless laugh. “didn’t love that” there’s no anger in his voice. just honesty. he shifts the camera, lowering his tone. “i’m not going to scare her like that. i’m not doing that” he pauses. “but i am going to ignore her. just for a little. because she hates that” another small pause. “…and maybe she’ll understand how that felt”
there’s something vulnerable in the way he says it.
he sets the camera up discreetly on the kitchen counter, angled toward the couch. you walk in a second later, smiling when you see him.
“hi baby” joe glances at you briefly. “hey”
just one word. flat.
you pause.
“what are you doing”
“nothing” he scrolls on his phone.
normally, he would reach for you. kiss your cheek. touch your waist. something. he doesn’t. you hover for a second before sitting beside him. your knee brushes his. he shifts slightly away. it’s subtle. but you feel it immediately. “are you okay?” you ask. “yeah” he doesn’t look up.
your stomach tightens. “did i do something?”
“no.” short. clipped.
you swallow. this feels familiar. you try again, softer “joe”
“what” you blink at the tone. not cruel. just distant. he finally stands up, walking toward the kitchen. you follow.
“are you mad at me?”
“i said i’m fine” your chest tightens the way his must have the other night.
“you don’t seem fine” he shrugs lightly, grabbing a glass from the cabinet. “i’m just thinking”
“about what” he doesn’t answer. and suddenly you hate this. the quiet. the space. you step closer, reaching for his arm. he gently moves away to put the glass in the sink. not aggressively. just… not reaching back. that’s what cracks you. “okay” you whisper. “i get it”
joe pauses.
you step back slightly, arms wrapping around yourself. “this is about the breakup prank” he doesn’t respond immediately. he turns slowly to face you.
“how did that feel?” he asks quietly. your throat closes. “bad”
“yeah” he nods once. “this feels bad too”
your eyes sting. “i’m sorry” you say immediately. “i really am. i didn’t realize how deep it would hit” joe’s composure wavers slightly at that. he looks at you, really looks at you, and whatever he sees softens him. he exhales.
“i don’t like feeling like i’m losing you” he says. not accusing. just truthful. “you’re not” you whisper. he steps closer now.
finally. “i know” he says. “but that night i didn’t”
that’s when you notice the camera on the counter. “…are we filming?”
he glances at it. “…yeah”
your lips part in disbelief. “joe.”
“i wasn’t going to scare you” he says quickly. “i just wanted you to feel a little of that distance” your expression shifts from hurt to understanding.
“you talked to the camera first, didn’t you”
“…maybe…”
“did you practice your villain speech?” he almost smiles. “it wasn’t villainous”
“it kind of was” you step into him this time. and he doesn’t hesitate. his arms wrap around you instantly, secure and warm. “i’m sorry” you say into his chest. “me too”
you both stand there for a moment, breathing each other in like you’re resetting something delicate. he kisses the top of your head softly. “no more breakup jokes” he murmurs. “no more ignoring” you counter. “deal”
“i love you baby” he whispers softly against your hair. “i love you joe”
you end the recording together.
when you post it, the comments are feral:
@lovecantbreakthespell: NOT HIM OPENING WITH “apparently we do pranks now”
@theydkwhatsright: he looked genuinely hurt
@carrythename: the way he said “i don’t like feeling like i’m losing you”
@grimeoftheword: this is the healthiest revenge i’ve ever seen
@change: he communicated instead of escalating
@climax: stop the “i love you’s” at the end awee
joe reads that last one quietly. “…escalating would’ve been dramatic” he mutters. you grin up at him.“you’re dramatic”
“only for you”
and this time, when you lean in, he kisses you before the camera can catch it.
hope you enjoyed reading this as much as i loved writing it :) i loved this so so so much! sososoo flufffyy and sooo cuuutee :) uggghh my fav series hands down! keep sending more requests :)
