Okay I've given up on having normal emotions so let's sort the Les Mis characters into Hogwarts houses instead.
The fandom seems to have largely decided on Slytherin!Cosette and I endorse this 100%. So, what her imperious jokingly ordering people around thing reads to me as is minimizing her desires. Plausible deniability for having needs. She knows how to survive, she has her ways, and she wants more.
Eponine is a Slytherin, obviously. Most schemey.
Marius is a Ravenclaw. No, he will not talk to you, he is thinking. And he is going to plan and this time it will work! I can see him as a Hufflepuff too though, because of his stubborn loyalty.
Enjolras is a Gryffindor. Wrathful and apocalyptic and he is going to make his stand for a new world that won't need people like him.
Grantaire is World's Most Cynical Hufflepuff. His defining quality is how deeply he loves his friends.
Combeferre is a Ravenclaw. He is possibly the definition of Ravenclaw.
Joly is also a Ravenclaw. Science will save us!
Um, Bossuet makes a lot of sense as a Hufflepuff, but I really enjoy Slytherin!Bossuet for some unfathomable reason.
Courfeyrac is also a textbook Hufflepuff. Warm and friendly and tenacious and generous and loyal, all those things.
Bahorel is obvs a CHARGE!!!-style Gryffindor.
Feuilly is hardworking and embraces all people as his family on some level. Hufflepuff.
Jehan is made of unrestrained passions ala Gryffindor, but I can see him as a Slytherin for...some reason.
Musichetta isn't mentioned much, but I'll sort her as a Ravenclaw based on how "literary" she's said to be.
Arghblargh, Javert is hard. I'll Ravenclaw him since he goes by the book.
Oh no Vajean. Valjesus Christ, he is hard to sort. Okay, Hufflepuff, because he loves, and works hard to build things for his loved ones.
So that's 2 Slytherins, 3 Gryffindors, 5 Ravenclaws, and 5 Hufflepuffs. I think there might be something wrong with my sorting.
And who wants to sort Victor Hugo, since he's practically an extra character in this fandom anyway?
