It’s the year of our lord 2021 and I still don’t get why people try to justify age gaps in ships with “there’s child warriors at like 13 which means adult!” when... no it fucking doesn’t. Sue me for saying it, but you wanna know what people’s real beef over cross-gen ships in this fandom is? It’s people denying canon. It’s people denying the fact that every chapter past 699 exists that cements the fact that these kids we rooted for are adults.
It’s not goddamn aging up of a minor. It’s not aging down an adult to ship with a minor. These people grew the fuck up and they’re over 30 now. Hell, even Saku here--who gets so much shit for being shipped with ~ICKY~ ADULTS--is over 30. I’ve been in this side of the fandom for ages and even the controversial age difference ships like KS all emphatically state that she’s an adult or do same-age AU’s, which I think is perfectly acceptable if both parties are well into their adult years in CANON.
Plus, Naruto’s legal age is 20. Why the fuck people think a warrior culture that allows minors to do battle means they’re adults in every capacity is beyond me. Like, my god, stop trying to justify shit with “it was okay back then!” when Naruto doesn’t take place back then. It’s set in a vaguely modern setting ffs.
Regardless, chapter 700 exists whether people like it or not. These kids are adults in their 30′s and even fucking Konohamaru’s generation is 29-30. If people stopped denying canon facts and time advancement or trying to justify complete garbage with garbage reasons, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
